speeding ticket

I got a speeding ticket for doing 40mph in a 25mph zone on my Road Bike. The wind was with me, it was warm and sunny and I was a fearless young punk many moons ago. I challenged the ticket in court and got a 50 cent fine, the judge laughed at the cop for wasting his time. I had a cop with a grudge against me in town until he retired. Those were the good old days.

In my neighborhood there are 3 stops signs that are run on a consistant basis. Often there is a deputy sheriff parked in the culdesac(sp?) waiting for someone to run the stop sign. I had finished installing a Miltech header/cat and Magnaflow catback on my MCS. Fired her up and took off for the first run with my new additions. Passed the sheriff on the way out and was a little worried about the noise levels - loud but sweet. Came back and the sheriff was out of his car and waiting for me. My first thought was " Oh S**t, mini too loud." Rolled down the window expecting the worst. He walked over and said "I heard you all the way out and back. Do you have a complete exhaust system on your car?" Told him I did - header/cat/catback. Ask me about the parts, grinned and said "That is one sweet sounding mini." Certainly not what I was expecting. Cool cop.

I am cynical about all of these post every day asking for cop related stories, asking us to spill the beans, I think posts might be from cops trying to find us MINI drivers with a lead foot. I would not tell a getaway story (even if I had one) or any of its details, that is a felony.

I talked myself into a ticket once.

I saw the radar trap, slowed down and then got pulled over. The officer asked me if I knew why he pulled me over. I said "no". He said I was doing 29 in a 25. I said "...holy crap, you'd better call for back up."

Not a smooth move.

I was pulled over a couple of weeks ago for doing 60 in a 45. I knew I was going to get a ticket so I didnt argue. He came up to my window and asked "Do you know why I pulled you over?" I said, "Obviously by your line of questioning, you dont know either." The look on his face was priceless. I thought for sure with that statement I was done for. Actually what happened next shocked me. He let me go!!! He told me to have a good evening and be careful. That was it. No ticket, no warning, no nothing. Surprised and shocked, I slowly drove away. I will say this, I WILL NOT be saying that to another officer if I get pulled over again. Who knows what would happen next time.

This was a while ago, when I still had my old Turbo Volvo. I was leaving school to go see my girlfriend and get court supervision for the ticket I'd gotten a couple weeks previous. I just wasn't paying attention to how fast I was going, I think I was doing about 65-70 in a 55 when a Crown Vic pops over the top of the next hill.

Crap!!! I hit the brakes as smoothly as I can. I don't like to give it away by making the front of the car scrape the pavement as I slow down. But I knew I was boned. Sure enough, the cherries and blueberries come on before the car even flips around to come get me. Like I said, knew I was boned, so I just pulled it over and waited for them to come up next to me.

Trying to get a scope of what I would have to deal with, I was watching in my rearview.....SON OF A .....I'm screwed. It was a chick. She'll never let me off! They're always pissed off at guys, and try to prove something to every single one they pull over. She probably even has a Harley at home, I thought. BTW, I know I stereotyping, don't like it, hit the little back button in the top right.

So I try to play it like I'm going to **** my pants.....this was easy.

She says, "Do you know why I pulled you over?"

Nervously, "Oh, I've got a pretty good idea."

"So you know how fast you were going?"

"Too fast Ma'am."

"Can I see your license, registration and proof of insurance?"

I give her my insurance and reg. I reach for the envelope between my seat and console for the ticket I was driving on.

She goes, "Uh oh, that better not be a ticket!"

I'm screwed. More nervously, "Yes ma'am."

"What's it for? It better not be for speeding!"

gulp, "Yes ma'am."

She asks me "Where at?" and I tell her that "it happened up north near where my girlfriend goes to school. The guy was parked right in front of a white barn and he blended in perfectly.....I'm going up there right now to get court supervision"

At this point I'm begging for a seizure or aneurism or something to make it all end.

She takes the ticket from me, scans it over. "Are you a student here?"

I give her the biggest puppy-dog eyes I've ever given in my entire life, "Yes ma'am."

She pauses and mulls the situation over in her head. She folds the ticket back as it was and say, "Slow it down." And walks back to her car.

I swear, if I ever meet her. I will fulfill whatever sick fantasies she has. No questions asked!!!

one day i was gettin off an exit from a highway and getting onto the road..
as i was getting closer to the traffic light coming up i saw there was a pretty bad accident..
the traffic was a standstill..i was in the furthest left lane..and i was with my gf in a hurry to get to our destination..
as im waiting for a couple minutes i see people making illegal u-turns before even coming up to the light..not just one but about 5 or so..
so yup..you guessed it..i decided to do a quick u-turn..and as SOON as i made a u-turn i see a cop on the left of me...which was originally like 4 cars behind me..
im near the 4 or 5 other cars that made the u-turns going back down the opposite direction when all of a sudden i see the cop making a u-turn..of course..him speeding up and coming fast..behind ME..
the lights turn on..
he pulls me over and said that i made an illegal u-turn..
he then asks me for my license and registration..and im like crap..
but as soon as he comes back i was about to ask him why he decided to pull ME..out of the 5 over..but as soon as i opened my mouth he said that he was letting me go with a warning and as SOON as i heard the word 'warning' i shut my mouth..
i was really thankful..but the cop didnt seem too happy cause the last words he said to me was..'make sure you wait like everyone else'..but in a very attitudy way..

but still cant really complain about a warning..im assuming tho..that because mine was the sportier car he pulled me over..

so that's my story..(sorry for it being so long..as i like to include many details..)

I was driving to my friend's house for dinner one day taking a back road. The speed limit for the first half on the way there is 35 MPH and the second half is 30 MPH. I was keeping my speed at about 40 - 42 MPH. This road had curves as well as dips and as I was coming down from a dip and going to a slight curve on the left, I saw a police car waiting at a gas station on the right. I saw him and hit my brakes as slow as I could, and signaled right to turn into the next street, hoping if he saw he turning he, he'd just let me go. I was slowing down for the turn and the minute I pass him, he flashed his lights, and I ended up getting pulled over at the corner of the street I was going to make a right turn on. He came over and said, license and registration and do you know why I pulled you over? I said no sir. He replied, I pulled you over for 43 on 30. I said, I'm sorry sir. He walked back to his cruiser, and came back in 5 minutes and said while laughing, alright, I'm going to give you a warning because I've never seen anyone starting to pull over before I even signaled my lights. I'm sitting there like... yes sir! Thank you sir! He told me to have a good night. And I ended up taking the next right to my friend's house.

The second time I ever got pulled over I said,"Good evening sir", just as the cop got to my window. Unfortunately I should have said,"Good evening MA'AM". lol, I ended up getting my first speeding ticket after 2 years of driving, and 4 houses away from mine no less :(
