06 MCS for $17.8K... with 23.5K miles... good deal?

Im a 1st time buyer on the market for a MCS and I found this deal today at a pre-owned dealership (non-MINI) The only thing is that this guys didnt know a thing about coopers, they barely knew how to work the windows; so is there anything I should watch out on the car..? (Im gonna go for a second inspection on sunday with my dad... and if anyone from the Torrance area wants to come out and help me out i would really really appreciate it).

The car is an 06 MCS grey with black interior.
6 speed trans.
cold weather, sport and premium package.
23500 miles
I believe the car still has about 25000/2yrs of warranty, correct me if im wrong.
$17,899

Sounds like a great deal. They're selling it for not much more than trade-in value.

That is a fairly amazing deal and it sounds like the dealership is fairly clueless as to the potential and current resale value of MINIs. Just to make sure that they're not leading you on and know more than they're letting on to, I'd definitely have the car inspected by a third party. If that's a go, drive it like you stole it (and with the peace of mind knowing you're still under the MINI warranty and part of free scheduled maintenance)!

btw... the guy at the dealership said "06s dont have complimentary maintenance".
Is that true, (cuz isnt free maintenance up to 40k miles)... or is he that clueless of the car..?

Run a "CarFax" or equivilent and also have the body/paint checked while getting it inspected to make sure it was not in an accident. You do want any surprises down the road...

Standard free maitenance on a MINI is 3 years, 36k miles. The warranty runs 4 years and 50k miles.

alright great... one thing i did notice is that the car had an "oil change" sticker, I guess they just took it to some w/e oil change place.

What is covered by the MINI free maintenance ..?

Shouldn't matter. Sounds like a great deal - almost too great! I'd make sure to get it checked out really well first.

Yes. "Balance" of factory warranty and scheduled maintenance is valid at ANY MINI dealership in the continental United States and Puerto Rico.

I believe only the factory warranty (Not the maintenance) is valid at any MINI dealer in Canada as well.

Call 1-866-ASK-MINI for further details.

You got warranty both ways as stated above. Its a good deal barring wrecks/abuse so grab it. You will love it. 06 is the best year of the model run!

+1.

At that price, it may already be gone.

I think that is a good deal as well. That being said I think the price is really about right. Its 3 years old now, and depending on area of the country minis in reality don't sell for as much as people think they do. We all want them to sell for a lot because we own them and it makes us feel good but the hurting economy will bring all things in check.
