R50/53 Replacement lens for third brake light
Replacement lens for third brake light
I checked all the other threads and could not find the specific question I need answered. How is this lens attatched on the third brake light of an 06 MCS. The lens just kind of popped off when I pushed the screws from the bottom to lift the assymbly out to install the brake light pulsar, but there does not seem to be anything that held the lens in place. Was it just glued? if so, I guess a bead of silicon around the edges should take car of that, but does anyone know for sure if that lens was just glued in place? I did notice some small cracks in the lens as well so I was going to replace it anyway, but am not having any luck finding the lens. I have found the whole assymbly but all I need is the lens.
Yeah, you have to buy the whole thing. My lens broke in an automatic car wash, and I had to buy a whole new light for $74. What really sucks is when I hand washed my car a couple days ago, I realized water was getting underneath the lens of the replacement! So it looks like I will be replacing this one soon as well.
The pulsar is pretty cool. They give you little wire connectors you are supposed to push the wires into and then crimp down to hold when you install the pulsar between the circut board for the LED lights and the wiring harness. I soldered mine in for a better connection, but it looks like its coming right back out if I have to replace the whole light assymbly just to get the lens. Now the question remains......white light or red light.
I replaced my original red light with a white light. I think it looks a lot better, personally. I plan to swap out my taillights for ones that have white turn signals instead of amber to complete the look, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

I've always liked this look, but fear tickets
Be careful with using silicon or epoxy

What ever type of epoxy or silcon you use, if too much is applied, many times it may show up on the outside of the lens when looking through, after the pieces are pressed together.....
It can make the lens look horrible.
Not illegal at all. The turn signal lens is white but the bulb behind the lens flashes amber.
