Hi, everyone! I finally took the leap Wednesday and bought a beautiful, shiny 2005 MINI Cooper! Just washed, waxed and photographed her this morning. Pic attached.

I've wanted a MINI ever since I lived in London in 1987. My landlord had a blue and white classic Mini, and I decided then and there that I needed to get one. Fast forward to 2008...

After hemming and hawing for the past few months about buying a new one versus a used one, my '05 MINI just appeared out of nowhere. I've wanted Chili Red forever, then a few weeks ago got distracted and thought I wanted a Pepper White. Alas, a Chili Red with all my specs (sunroof, heated seats, antracite headliner, chrome exterior) popped up. I'm glad I grabbed it.

Sure beats a car payment and I know I got a great deal. I had a BMW mechanic inspect her pre-sale and she's in excellent shape, except for the missing 3" piece of roof gutter rubber trim over the front pillar, but that's on order and should be here soon.

My sunroof doesn't rattle, it isn't too bright (I was all set to have it tinted, but no need), and I've decided not to add the bonnet stripes I was planning to put on. I like her just the way she is.

It's true when everyone writes that they can't stop grinning. What a car!

So, thank you, all of you, for helping me so much throughout the past year of lurking through your excellent, informative posts. Your enthusiasm for these cars is infectious and I'm so glad I'm part of the gang now!

Wow, you have the patience of a saint. I waited from 02 to '07 and it was agonizing.

Don't forget that bonnet stripes increase both your HP and your MPG.

I got a 2006 Cooper in December. Since then: bonnet stripes, K&N intake, tint going on in October. Wheels next year though. Congratulations though, I know how it feels to wait six years in my case until that awesome day when you find it. The perfect one.

 

enjoy, I found a used 2006 MCS in March with 8700 on the ticker, ready to turn 18000 this weekend...still smiling also!
