I ordered a mini cooper silver/black top with sport and premium packages on August 4. My production date is 10/18 so i figure i wouldn't get it till november. The reason i got the cooper and not cooper S is that it would take much longer to get but I did like the S. The S was also more $$. Today I saw a S on the dealers website for about the same price as the one i ordered (around 20). When I went there the price was 27,000. They added all this extra stuff. The manager told me someone backed out and apologized about the website having the wrong price which I thought was a lot of BS. My sales rep asked me if I want to change my order to an S. So he gave me the price which would be about $30 more a month if I took out the sports package and left in the premium. He said he would fit me in the Jan delivery. I was gonna trade my car in but if I have till Jan i have more time to sell it. So I took the S. Now instead of getting a car sooner I went today to delay the process. I hope its worth the wait. By the way my car is a 96 mustang gt YES Mustang!!! I'm still speechless! It was something about driving and looks of the car. Let me know what u guys and girls think

The S will be just as fast at higher RPMs and speeds as your Mustang GT. I had two GTs around the same year and they were listed at 6.7sec to 60. Sure the mustang has more torque and off the line and low-rpm power but the MINI S is much more fun to drive. Good decision going for the S.

If you think your crazy, let me tell you my story. My '93 Mustang had 394.6 horsepower at the wheels with only 5,763 miles on it. I sold it on e-bay originally planning on buying a Honda Odyssey. My brother was having a party and one of the guests had the Mini Cooper. He told me about their website, which I went into that night and was intrigued ever since. The next day I went to the dealer and they had a pure silver "S" loaded including the navigation system, not yet sold, waiting to ship to the US. It is due around 9/19/02. I put down a deposit and am anxiously awaiting the car. So, I wouldn't say that you are crazy, I am. Happy motoring.
Bob

I think I'm crazy myself - I still have my old car and owe some $$ on it...I'm trying to sell it, but you'd think if I was sane, I wouldn't buy a car until after I'd sold!!! That's what MINIs do to you

My family and friends think I'm insane to sell my 2000 Jetta VR6 when I don't owe any money on it and it is just shy of 3 years old. I just respond that they don't suffer from a serious case of MINI-itis that makes you do just about anything to get your hands on a MINI of your very own!

Those are great stories. You all are certifiably and perfectly sane (I am a psychologist--really). Just Mini-crazy. I have a wife and young son and really needed something more practical (was looking at 3-series wagon or Audi Avant). One test drive in the MCS and I was sold. My previous car was a 2000 VW GTI 1.8T. Everyone was quite surprised when I showed up with something even smaller. My wife still thinks I'm nuts, but even she smiles when she drives the Cooper!

Thought I would add to the "insanity" stories. Three dogs (one not small), 2000 BMW 323 Wagon. Drive regularly between two cities. Saw the mini, drove the mini, put deposit down. Found a local "used" mini exactly what I wanted with 800 miles. Bought that mini yesterday!!! Now have to sell wagon. Husband, friends, family - all think I'm nuts. (They haven't driven the mini)!

MCS chili red, all 3 packages, white/white/bonnet stripes

I bought a Cooper on March 29th. I put 6000 miles on it and brought it in for service on August 18th. While there I test drove a Cooper S and traded the Cooper on the spot. When I did the math I figure I paid $1000 a month to drive the Cooper and now have a car payment I didn't have with the Cooper but the S is smokin.'

Size matters!!!!!
