R50/53 sunroof problems
Has the problem with rattling sunroofs been fixed? Anyone who recently picked up their new Mini have a problem with the sunroof rattling or leaking? I really like the sunroof but I don't have a garage and am concerned that over time the sunroof might develop problems like leaking. Any comments?
Both of the MCs I have owned came with sunroofs and both sunroofs are/were problem-free.
Most nights MYT LITL sleeps indoors, but after much rain and car washes there have been neither leaks nor rattles.
The sunroof creates a wonderful feeling of spaciousness when the screens are slid back.
You can live without it but I think the benefits outweigh the risks.

>>Thanks Pooky. Maybe I'll try that. But having driven a Miata for 6 years a little bit of rattle has not bothered me. I'm having too much fun motoring.

That's the spirit! When a car grows on you, those little noises here and there nothing when you love your ride.
Just in case anyone has any issues, how to-fix problems or do-it-yourself projects (including the extra brake light modification). Go to site below and bookmark it to your browser for future reference.

January 8, 2003 build date - no rattles (or any other noises for that matter) or leaks from the sunroof.

Took delivery of my MINI Cooper (Jet Black) last weekend it had to drive it home (about 60 miles) in absolute TORRENTS of rain here in New Jersey... the MINI handled awesomely, never felt like it hydroplaned, and I was approaching 70 MPH on the interstate in absolute downpoor...happy to say the sunroof is completely leak-free (the entire car is!) and not a rattle to be heard. I figure, for a car built in England, it better handle the rain well. And the MINI sure does.
