everyone should take a look at the thread at BMW Board entitled Embarassing. I understand the need to express your opinion, but I think some of the comments go too far. So I posted my own reply. I think other MINI owners should do the same!

Pfffft, who cares what they think? Who cares what anyone but you think about what you drive? It's an awesome car and I'm secure enough to take criticism - especially from someone who flames them out of envy/jealousy.

Seems the old joke is true:

Q:What's the difference between a porcupine and a BMW?
A: A porcupine has the ****** on the outside.

Yet more evidence that BMW drivers are obnoxious, condescending jerk offs whose cars are more status symbol than anything else.

And that goes double for my f@#k%*g boss!

Forcer78,
While everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I would beware. That guy is just fishing for comments for a tasteless post. If it is not obvious to anyone else he is uneducated, and should not be given the time of day. He actually thinks he's a genius and funny. Go figure

Thanks for standing up for the good name of the MINI all the same.

Lolo

Your absolutely right, this person is just fishing for comments, which is exactly the reason why I posted. I agree that I shouldn't care what other people think and I don't care...I just fealt it was right to answer these people back...for #hits and giggles

There will always be folks who thumb their noses at anything new. However, Mini/MINI heritage speaks for itself and there's little reason to argue about a fact of automotive history. The car rocks. Like it or not...now MINI is here and the heritage continues. Period. If folks don't "get it" that's fine, there'll be fewer MINIs on the road which is okay by me. Besides, I think many BWMs (sedans) are just too boring...so there!

This thread could not have come at a more opportune time. I took my MCS in for service today and am saddled with a 325i....and it's a standard. There is no comparison between the BMW and the MCS. The BMW clutch is mushy and the shifter throw is so looooong it feels like I'm moving my hand from the windshield to the back seat when I change gears. The MINI tranny is so much bettter than the 325i. Can't wait to get my girl back so I can Motor again.

Apparently I am effiminante(sp). And by BMW post standards I may be well on my way to cuteness. I feel SO special.

Let me respond by saying "My car can kick your car's ***". When I see you at recess you better look out.

He's just mad that he can't fit into parking spaces. So he has to hate the MINI because it is better than his car.

Forcer78 - thanks for sticking up! I see there are a few on that board that also stuck up for us.

Figures someone from the BMW forums would start something - I hate to generalize but there seems to be something with that porcupine/BMW driver joke. My first time at Lime Rock there were a few new M5s in my rungroup (I was driving my NSX), and this one guy just WOULD NOT let me pass even though he was slowing me down (only point by passing allowed). After 1-lap he finally gave me the point by - a fellow NSX club member later said to me "...that guy was probably in denial that his 400 hp V8 wasn't enough for your 290 hp V6..."

It's rather instructive that these guys are making their disparaging comments without even driving the car. I guess the old sage was right when he said, "The main ingredient of ignorance is the desire to prove it".

How many times the word "feminine" is misspelled on that thread? And why "gay" is a bad thing? I thought gay meant "brilliant in colors; splendid; fine; richly dressed." and "keenly alive and exuberant : having or inducing high spirits".

If that's the case, then my MCS is definetly gay.

I find it amazing that there is such a huge gap in intellegence level between this forum and the BMW forum...has anyone else picked up on this, are we really that much smarter, sophisticated, intellegent, smarter (did i say smart and intellegent yet)?

Clearly. I was surprised when I checked that guy's profile that he is married and 41 years old. I wouldn't expect that behavior from a mature adult.

I feel sorry for his wife.

LMINI,

Calm down big girl. We've seen your flame wars on MCO, you just might melt down the BMW server if you try. On second thought, it was a nasty insult, but what's a "trailor"? Idiot can't even spell.

Anywho, what's the old saying about wrestling with pigs? You'll just get dirty and the pig will enjoy it.

Luckily, I'm blocked from that site at work and will have to defray comments until later.

All'y'all (which is plural for y'all) relax.... it's almost Friday.
