Why would you have to duck? Everything you said was totally true. Not everyone is going to agree. And that is fine. But that guy was a real jerk to sit there and be like "They can fit in parking spaces....real men don't drive them." I mean, GOOD LORD how STUPID an argument is that?

I'm practically born and raised in NYC and the porcupine/BMW analogy can't be further from the truth. The funny part is they all think they're all that with their BMW's and none of them can't drive stick

 

Boy, some of those BMW people need to get a life as they say. Many of those remarks smack clearly of jealousy.
Pound for pound, dollar for dollar I get more bang for my buck than those overpriced bimmer guys ever will.

But you see it's entirely an emotional argument. there is no logic to the hate, just a negative emotional reaction with no rational thought behind it. Thus continuing the argument is a waste of time and energy.

We hired a guy from Germany several years back to do some work for us. When he came over, he went looking for a new car. He was utterly APPALLED that you could buy a BMW with an automatic transmission. Pure blasphemy!! So for every "cool stud" with BMW here, there's 3 "cooler studs" overseas that drive REAL BMWs.

I wonder how those clownshoes will welcome people that buy 1-series into their little clique?

Oh, and my "cool stud" neighbor with a 5-series (automatic), takes his wife's minivan whenever it snows or ices. So much for the ultimate driving machine.

So many people equate big dollar cars with handling and performance – I do think WE have them by the purse strings on this one. MINI handles better than any BMW on the road. As for being a girl’s car, so what, don’t ladies like handling and performance also.

 

Okay ladies, three pages of rants and not one about the guy saying "girls buy cars just for their looks" Motor on ladies!

 

I don't think that people should say stupid stuff like that without driving one. I'd understand if they said that it was ugly, because that is their opinion but saying that is is a ******* and slow as hell.

Okay I went to the BMW board to see what this is all about after reading all the posts there my impression is that the negative comments are mostly attacks made out of fear. Yes that's what I said FEAR, fear of losing position, fear of change, fear of not being perceived as in control, fear of not being cool, fear of MadMike who ever he thinks he is, fear that the MINI is a cult car beyond any aspirations they hold as a BMW driver, fear that a MINI may embarrass them in a speed contest.
On that point, my Saturn SC2 has done that numerous times to bemers and it sure does **** them off, Can't wait till my MINI gets here Oh Boy!!! *****! who does he think is to make disparaging remarks about working girls whether your in that line of work or not, in Germany it's a legitimate profession.
So in the end there is only one question, who is having the most FUN
