Dodge Hornet as the american version of the Mini?!

Hi, first real post here, lurker for a while now but thought this one was worthy of sharing with y'all.

Check out this car, is this a rip-off by Dodge?
http://www.dodge-hornet.com

Uses the same engine as in our minis too. Looks like Dodge trying to capitalize on success of cars like the mini.

I kind of like it. Of course, I wouldn't trade my MINI for one for the world! It definitely is NOT as nice as a MINI, nor does it have the history, charm, etc.

It does appear that there's a split rear passenger door, which could be handy...

I'd have to see it in person, looks like it could be good reason for MINI to beef up marketing. This also means there will be even more HP driven mods that could be availible for our engines and the price of parts could go down.
Will it handle like a MINI though?

That car is ugly, plain and simple. They need to take a serious look at where they are going w/ this car, because it has no charm whatsoever. If I were driving an Element of an xB, maybe, but as a sub for a MINI, no way!!!

Throw some giant chrome rims on it and I like it.

Did you see Ford's baby Bronco? I like that too.

that looks pretty damn good! (the hornet).

"hornet" reminds me of those Tamiya RC cars from the days... the upgraded
version of GrassHoppers.

very true

Finally, Chrysler lets some of its best designers go at it, and look what we have gotten.

The Challenger (and the rumored Cuda) and now the Hornet.

I cant wait to see the new 300 and Charger concepts for '09!!!!

Both of them look like they should transform into some giant robot-guy. I guess that's my point..they both look so industrial and muscular to the point of appearing cartoonish (and even foolish).

I like the Bronco. It has the general look of the original. The Hornet, on the other hand, needs to be painted a bright, metallic green. Was The Green Goblin helmet their inspiration??

Are those bonnet stripes on the Hornet? Looks like a counterfeit MINI to me hahahaa...

Actually, I like it... looks more like the Scion xA which I think is far more pleasing to the eyes than the Scion xB.

I really like that honet.. I like the fridge door so much, it give easy access to the back seat.. I wish the new MINI wagon will have those doors.

They had to borrow from the MINI, RX-8, and the xB. Not very original to me..

170bhp at 4000RPM puzzles me.

I love how open minded everyone here is about a car that seems like it takes cues from the mini.

I think it's terribly ugly and I see much more influence from the Xa and the front end of a Dodge truck than a MINI.

Just curious as everyone seems to feel this way....but what styling cues were taken from the MINI and put into this design? I think im missing it.
