just one question....

Why do people think this thing is a MINI clone? The only thing i see that it has in common with it is that its a hatchback?

It's not a clone, but it's fairly upright and small like our cars. They say that it should come in below the Caliber (that will start like 13 or 14k?), so it'll be cheap. And of course the engine is like ours, so that's a definite plus in the category (supercharged). Aero will be worse than us and I bet that it's as heavy and has a 'design to cost' suspension, but for grins with some utility (flat load floor inc front passenger seat), it's pretty cool. I like it.

OK quit looking through round lenses. The MINI is there it is just squared off. Not as bad as the "SIC"on XB but it is there. The tail lights are squared but they are there. Heck even the MCS "Bonnet" scoup is there. Those seats although great for when you need to move stuff, have to be heavy as Merkursport said! The engine is a 4 valve per cylinder, 1.6 liter four with single overhead cam that puts out 160 to 170 hp. DUH... That is the MCS engine!

Yah i understand the engine thing....but you are trying to tell me these tailights are the same as ours just "squared"?

And you think this off-centered scoop looks like our centered scoop? There have been hundreds of cars with scoops.....just because a car has a scoop doesnt mean it was copying a MINI Might as well say its copying us because it has wheels and our MINIs have wheels too.

Scoop is on top, because that's where the IC will be! Sheeze, almost every 3-door, front drive econo-box has the same layout as the Mini, and many came first! (At least compared to the new Mini....)

The article says that the IC is front mounted (as the pic appears to show), so I think that their scoop is merely bling. Bully for them.

I really hope that it takes off in Europe, but I think that the case to bring it here will be a little tough. I work with DCX and although they are doing very well amongst the big three, Dieter is in a house-cleaning mood, and people are laying low (and their projects are too). We'll see!

If God had intended a MINI to be squared off He/She would have planted the idea in Frank's noggin. The Hornet's current design is excessive and over-blown...therefore u-g-l-y. (imo)

I look at the Hornet & think... angular, unatural, no-flow. That they've taken good cues from Mazda, Suzuki, MINI & Scion is not bad... flatery Seems like a utilitarian concept. Now, can they make it look apealing? Do they care? If real I'm loving the LED rear lights... (not the box they're in) IMO something MINI should have.

Will the Hornet drive like a MINI...? I don't think that's even a consideration.

Re:the Bronco... Can you saya Tonka toy? Reminiscant of the old IH Scout 800

Maybe WE can get some good parts from this! If it's the same motor, some should bolt up, or at least ease the pain of conversion...

This is the 3rd time this has been posted the last few days, but I do have to say that this thread has the best title. Search for dodge hornet or chryser and you'll find the other 2 threads.

I'm a bit surprised that no one has noticed how the front grill looks similar to the MINI logo.

But the Tritec Plant is going to China

I kind of like the look of it.
What's interesting is...if they're using the Tritec engine ...they're going to be getting it from China

Yes.....and how dare they copy the mini and put wheels on it......

only the mini should be allowed to have wheels - all you other cars go find your own ideas!

It is indeed. But the fact of the matter is, Dodge didnt imitate MINI in anyway.

Except of course for the fact that it has wheels just like our car has wheels. That is upsetting me alot

www.dodge-hornet.com posted a "making of" type video of the Hornet.

I found it funny that one of the inspirational photos used for the car was a bulldog... the car does remind me of a bulldog a bit
