I broke my antenna off

Hi. I'm an idiot. I was brushing the snow off my MINI this morning. I was using one of those brush/ice scraper combos. It is basically a brush with the ice scraper at the end. I was rushing because it was really cold and I can't find my gloves.

The ice scraper slammed into my antenna and snapped it off at the base. Has anyone else ever done that? I'm calling the dealer tomorrow to get an estimate to see about getting the base replaced.

The antenna appears to be fine. The piece the antenna screws into busted off. So I'm hoping the black bubble part can be screwed off or something and a new one screwed on. It appears to be plastic, so hopefully after parts and labor it is only $100 at the most.

Anyone ever do this and get it repaired?

I broke mine. Ordered a new one. $44.00 back in 10-05. Installed it myself. You get the whole base.

Here are pictures.

I'm using packing tape to cover the hole due to weather until I can get the dealer to check it out on Monday. They are saying it could be a couple hour job because to remove the base requires them to undo the ceiling liner.

Doh!

I broke my antenna off the exact same way. I bought a $1.50 tube of super glue and carefully glued it back on. It was quite cold when I did the repair so I used a hair dryer to warm it as I held the antenna in place while the glue cured. Worked like a charm.

It is about $400 to get the antenna mount replaced. I got a quote from the dealer Tuesday.

greven, there are some detailed articles in this section on how to remove the antenna. Do a little searching before you spend the $400.

I just broke mine off at the base this morning also. If anyone has a link to any articles on replacement please post them.
