We have 2nd Generation MINI radios on the site:

Radio Boost upgrade w/ MP3 support - Mini Cooper/Cooper S
http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=318

The text display bug for MINI is being investigated for NAV applications - we should have a fix shortly.

Wow,. $599 just to get text on my radio's display?! My HU does everything else (I usually listen to burned MP3s)....
But, with my current setup, what can I expect? Same thing I experiened with the IceLink?

They come up on eBay occasionally (make sure you verify the manufacture date). MINI does charge an outrageous amount for a new head unit.

I just ordered a DICE unit with HD, but I forget to check one thing...

The regular DICE comes in either a trunk HU interface. Is the HD the same? Or do all HD DICEs hook up through the head unit?

Thanks

HD DICE kits all interface through the CD changer connections in the trunk.

So happy!

Thanks to Tom's neverending supply of patience, my DICE is working and I have iPoddy goodness again!!!

A few hints:
- it's worth it to check your receiver before you order your bits... turns out I had an "old" wiring harness, so I had to wait while that was shipped too
- sometimes you do really have to "force it" ... I'm always afraid of putting too much pressure on things and having them snap. Well, with the little...erm.. cam?... thingy that holds the wiring harness in place you really do have to really put some pressure on it.
- Tom's great!

I just placed my order for a dice kit with radio interface. I have an '03 Cooper S with Nav. I don't mind not having text display but I certainly don't want my Nav hijacked whenever I use the ipod. I hope a solution comes soon.

Tom:

I'm not exactly in the OC area, but i'm close enough to come out there. I also have a Navi, so it could be helpful for you guys to play around with it to find a solution to the issues. I don't currently have a DICE (I use the Icelink now) but i'm looking to upgrade. I'm also interested in getting a Sirius module installed on my car, if I stopped by there sometime next week would that work? (I'm actually not sure that you sell the Sirius module for the MINI, but if you do, i'd definatly go ahead and get it from you guys ). I know how to install it all, but you're more than welcome to install it and take pics.

I just received my DICE unit yesterday and I'm planning to install it soon but I had just a few questions before I get started. I bought a used 2006 head unit so I can have text display. I know these radios do not require a security code input when they are disconnected but will the used radio I bought be simply a plug and play? Is there a security procedure or something I need to do in advance?

My car is an '03 with NAV and I don't mind the screen being hijacked for text but on the occasions that I do want to use the NAV system, how do I disable the text function so I can use navigation?

Any other hints, tips, clues etc I should be aware of? I've swapped dozens of radios in different cars so that part doesn't worry me, just anything that may be particular to this car or system.

Thanks in advance.

Nothing to worry about - simply plug in the DICE and play. The text display will appear on your MY06 HU automatically.

Tom,

My wife keeps bugging me to get her ipod working with her '05 MINI Covertible with NAV. I keep telling her to wait because we use NAV alot and do not want the Hijacking of the Screen, but she DOES want text on the HU. Can you give us something firm and hold to it for NAV owners? Watching the thread for 4 months waiting to buy isnt fun... please help us MINI w/ NAV owners out.

Not one person w/ a GP question.

Well here goes i guess.

Tom, I would love to have my IPOD playing through my GP. What do I need to do?

Also I noticed a install offer from you guys, (I live in LA) in exchange for pictures~ does that apply to GP's?

If not its cool, I can Do it myself :impatient

You will need a radio interface kit for your GP, since you are not prewired for a CD Changer. Are you looking for the standard DICE kit or HD Radio also?

Tom, is there someone in the SF Bay Area authorized to install the DICE kit? I know it is easy, but I'm just too busy to do it myself. I have a 2007 MCSCa with Nav.

No one that I've worked with personally, but I do have an installer in San Carlos.

I can tell you that we are working on it - as for an ETA, nothing yet. This will definitely be a firmware update when ready.

firmware

tom, what does a firmware update usually entail? do I have to send the whole unit back to you or can I somehow interface the Dice unit with my computer and do it at home? I really want to order the dice but don't know how much longer I can wait for the Nav fix. using the aux port is killing me...
