One question that I still haven't seen explained well yet (and it is not on the website either):

I'm getting a 2007 MCSC with NAV in March and HK. I can't find out if the CD changer wiring is there or not with the model turnover. I know some of the NAV testing is still in progress. The 2007's Converts supposedly do come with the Aux jacks in the glove box (not positive about location, maybe under the dash).

If the CD changer is prewired into the boot: can I just buy the DICE kit and just plug in everything, including the iPOD in the boot and leave it all there, and have the songs, playlists, etc. show up on the HK radio? Is this an easy install? I understand the NAV portion is still being worked out, but the ability to see this info (and drive it from the steering wheel) on the radio would be great.

If it is not: sounds like I have to pull the Nav or radio out to install? Is that a big deal or is there a reputable installer in the Bay Area, California, that will do this install?

Sounds like money is way better spent with the DICE kit vs. the iPod connector that the dealer sells. (I'm guessing none of the dealers will install the DICE kit?).
This is not a big deal and you should have no problem performing the installation on your own. I do however want to see the connections on the MY07 MINI before claiming it is compatible.

If you or anyone else with a MY07 has pictures, could you post?

I just installed the Dice ipod kit (radio version) today and am very happy with it. It is working just fine for me. The install was easy with the reassembly of the center console taking the most time. This is a mcs with no nav.

I have two questions or comments. First, is there any way to adjust the volume output or gain of the ipod to more closely match that of the radio station output? In other words, I must adjust the volume when switching between radio and ipod, no big deal. Second, the scrolling of text info on radio playback is at a nice speed but during ipod playback it is much slower. Any way to increase the text scroll speed on ipod play? Minor issues to be sure. As I said, I am very happy with the product and glad I got it. Thanks.

The gain and text speed are set at DICE and cannot be changed by the end user, but the volume should closely match that of your radio. Make sure things like SOUNDCHECK and your EQ settings on your iPod are disabled.

I just bought an icelink plus and I cannot get the head unit to see it at all. Ive pulled radio fuses, disconnected the battery, reset my ipod, checked the connections again & again. I'm frustrated with it and there doesn't seem to be any service available for the now obsolete unit. I'm wondering if the connections for the icelink (from the boot) will work with the DICE (they seem to look the same) and if you have an option to buy the DICE unit without the cables. Also, I have an 03 MINI, does the manufacture date matter (10/02)?

Thanks,
James

Your MY03 MINI is not compatible for text. Text compatibility was introduces in April 05+ models.

Following up on the previous post. Is it possible to buy the Dice unit without the cables? The reason I ask is because I have had tons of problems with my Dice unit and it needs to be replaced. I bought the unit directly from Dice Electronics (first mistake which I learned from and used EAS for my XM purchase). Dice offers basically no support. Ignored my online trouble ticket and on the phone only offered an exchange if I send it back in original packaging with the original receipt. Unfortunaly I lost the receipt.

My unit constantly locks up on the text display. The first few characters appear on the head unit, and then usually a letter "E" and nothing else. No scrolling, just locked in place. The sound comes through fine, usually. Sometimes the sound gets distorted, but it fixes itself in a minute or so.

So, basically I assume my Dice unit is faulty and wonder if it is possible to buy it without the cables to save a few bucks.

We have replacement modules available:

DICE iPod Integration Kit for Mini Cooper - *UPGRADE*
http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=316

I would try to see if you could speak to someone else at DICE about your case before purchasing another module.

Thanks, Tom. I will give Dice one more chance to see if there is anyone I can escalate this to.

Dice upgrade path

Tom, I was wondering if there was an upgrade path for the Dice. I am interested in purchasing the Dice for my 2007 MCSC with Nav, but was not sure when (if even possible) the nav display bugs would be resolved. So, my question is, if I purchase the Dice and the nav bugs are worked out sometime in the future, are you able to flash the dice module or would I be stuck with one with limited nav function as is now? Thanks.

PS I got the bluetooth today. Now just have to find time to install it....

Congrats on the BT! You're going to love the new kit. As for the DICE, if it is a firmware fix, we can have the module reflashed easily.

I am not a do-it-yourselfer, and I am pretty confused by a lot of what I just read.
Please tell me what I need.
I have a 80G Video iPod and a 2004 MCS with HK. No CD changer in boot, no aux input. I have one of the 3-spoke MFSW with the controls in the back.
Help!

It's simple - this is the kit you need:

DICE iPod Integration Kit for Mini Cooper (Radio Interface)
http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=629

This will connect at the rear of the radio and provide a separate selection on the radio for the iPod.

Two Questions

I just installed the HD Dice in my Cabrio. Install was quite easy but now i have a couple of questions:

1 I do get some cutting in and out of the signal. I seems to do this randomly. I don't see any relation to direction or obstruction. Is tnis normal?

2 With the anntena afixed to the windscreen, Can I just order the antenna and the antenna module holder if needed?

Thanks in advance...

This will depend on the strength of the HD signal. if a HD signal cannot be found, it will revert to analog.

I'm not sure what you mean - is this something other than DICE pieces?

These are the pieces that came with the HD DICE. The antenna filament attaches to the windshield as does the holder for the antenna black box. Can these be purchased separately if a windshield was to be replaced?

Only on 4/05+ vehicles, or MINI's with a newer HU.

I Just got my DICE unit the other day from eas (fast shipping btw) and I am having a problem getting it into DICE mode. When the dip switches are in the proper location all I have is control from the iPod. There is no difference when the switches are flipped either way. I have the correct firmware on my iPod. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
James

P.S. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting everything and resetting the iPod..all with no luck. Thanks!

James,

Does the iPod change screens when plugged into the DICE? Also, is this a radio-interface or trunk interface kit?

Check the 2amp fuse in the wiring harness, this will be connected to the brown wire. IF this is good, the module may be DOA and need to be replaced.

Thanks for the answer on the replacement antenna. The install was pretty straight forward. It did take a bit of practice to manuever through the buttons and threre function but once I did it has been great. The HD with the H/K sounds awesome.

I checked the fuse and it is fine. I get power to the iPod, and I can hear it, but control is limited to the iPod. Also, I get quite a bit of alternator whine while the car is running, and a noticable "whistle" when the engine is revved up a bit. Has there been a fix for the whine? I have heard of others with this problem.

Thanks for all your help,
James
