CD5 = iPod/AUX modes
CD6 = not used in MINI

Did you get an instruction manual with the kit? This will explain the features in more detail.
Thanks Tom! I think I do have the manual. Can't say I understand 'song browsing' though.

I think I may need to call you when in my GP. I can not control the ipod with my HU or MFC's. It will play through the stereo though.

Rebooting the iPod solved the problem of being able to use the controls on the iPod itself but the headunit no longer displays any scrolling text. All I get now is the disc and track info. Aside from that, everything is working fine. Any ideas about the text thing?

Press CD6/TRACK1 and return to CD1 for text display. If you would like one-on-one technical support, contact me by phone on Monday morning and I would be happy to help.

There's no official MINI Part, but it is possible to mount the guts of the XM antenna under the base of the FM antenna. See this post for the coupe antenna or this post for the convertable antenna. It's actually pretty easy to do.

I have an 06 Cooper S with the nav system and I just installed the DICE. It sounds great but I can't seem to get it to release it's control of the nav system. Even when I turn the switches on the DICE to iPod Mode instead of DICE mode, it still wants to control the nav display. Is there a way for me to use the DICE and have it ignore the stereo and nav displays? I love the DICE, but not at the expense of using my nav.

Thanks,
Tony

At this moment, text display is not compatible with NAV. We are working on a solution and should have one shortly that can be solved with a simple firmware flash.

I would recommend turning off text display in the meantime, the iPod will still display the text on its screen.

Last words of advice

Ok, I have my DICE upgrade in hand (and have for several days, but I'm being chicken) and am ready to tackle it.

Where are the best instructions-for-taking-the-MINI apart to install the radio hookup with as many pictures as possible?

thanks!

I have that exact same car and am having the exact same issue. I will be eagerly awaiting a solve. Having the text display on the radio would be kickass, but taking control of my NAV is not so cool!

So how do I disable the text display for now?

Select DISC6/TRACK99 (pressing left arrow one time) to disable text display.

I have successfully disabled text display, and I'm much happier with the DICE now that I can listen to the iPod at the same time as using the nav. I'm looking forward to any sort of update that will restrict the text display to only the head unit, but for now this solution works.

Thanks!

Hey Tom - I just received my DICE, and this thing is awesome. What a great product!

I am having some trouble, however, that I am hopeful you can help me with. The issue is not so much related to the DICE, as it is my XM, but you may have ideas anyway:

I have a 2006 MCS with H/K stereo, NAV, DICE, and an XM Delphi SkyFi2.

Previously, I used FM modulation to hear the XM through the car speakers, and sound quality was about as you would expect. Not horrible, but not great. Now that I have an AUX input on the DICE, I thought I'd use it for my XM. The trouble is that I am hearing a LOT of engine noise when listening to the XM via the DICE AUX input - to the point where the XM is not usable. I am certain this is a problem with the XM, because when I connect an MP3 player to the AUX, there is no unwanted noise.

The XM is powered by the stock cig lighter plug.

Any ideas?

The cigarrette lighter is not the best source - it's often referred to as "dirty power". Is there a way you can use another power source? If not, a ground loop isolator must be used.

Yes - actually, I've already puchased a new 12v socket so I can wire the XM's power behind the dash.

What power source do you recommend I tap into for 'clean' power?

Try testing going directly to the battery for starters - this will deptermine if this is the problem or not.

Forgive me if this question has been answered, but I read through the thread a couple times and didn't see it.

With the DICE unit, will my iPod turn off when I shut off the car, or will I need to turn the iPod off separately each time?

Thanks

With the DICE unit, the iPod will pause playback immediately after turning the car off and 15-30 seconds later the iPod will power down automatically.

I'm in a similar position as lintqueen only I have the HD DICE. I've e-mailed and am still awaiting to get the instructions, but in the meanwhile...can the instructions with pics be added to the EAS Knowledgebase?

If there is a MINI in the Orange County area, we would be happy to perform a complimentary installation in exchange for pictures for our knowledgebase.

Email me directly for details.
