Navigation & Audio Random Icon showing up on V27 screen?
Random Icon showing up on V27 screen?
So I've seen this icon pop up on my Nav screen 3 times in the last 2 days. I never saw it before the v27 upgrade (of course that doesn't mean it wasn't there)
Twice while sitting still and once while moving, in a relatively open area. Tried to take a pic with my phone, but my top was down so its not the best.
Any clues?

Ok, We've definitely identifed multiple possiblities, but for some reason they just don't feel right...
Am I really the only one seeing this? I'm never been special before

What happens when you change from perspective mode to flat mode and zoom in? Is this only a perspective mode thing?
I just burned v27 to my NAV yesterday and am now very curious !!

No, the appearance has been random so far. And like I mentioned; its not geo located (fixed to an address point on the screen)
I am in perspective mode.
It is more likely to appear when I'm stopped, and then goes away after a few moments of driving. I was beginning to wonder if it is some kind of Engine Heat warning? But I don't know if the computer could be capable of doing that.

I may have some more evidence as to what is happening here.....
Yesterday after upgrading my firmware to v 27 and my map disk to 2006-2, I was playing around with the "local information" section of the NAV - the option that lists all the local movie theatres, bars, restaurants, etc. Well, I selected local bars and reviewed the list, then returned to the basic map and forget all about it. Well, today I was using the NAV to guide me to a meeting in Philadelphia and I started seeing little squares with martini glasses popping up along the route on odd corners. In perspective mode, it appeared as though some of them were not moving and then they went away just as quickly. The perspective feature caused many of them to be fairly stationary.
I went back to the "local information" section and there was now the option there to "clear icons", which I did, eliminating all the roadside martini glasses (amazing feature for a car - the ability to find the nearest place to get loaded !!!)
It could be that you chose some option like "find diesel fuel" or something associated with that weird icon and after browsing it, it is now set in your system and will show up whenever you pass "one of those".
Try the "clear icon" button to see if that gets rid of the problem.

WE HAVE A WINNER
Did the disable icon and it went away. Selected another category and got icons on the screen. Now I have no clue what the original icon category was, so will have to work on that. I also think some of the locations are screwed up but that would be navteqs fault.
Howard - I'm seeing those same grey things showing up. At one point, I thought they were old nav destinations but that's definitely not it.
So our next mystery awaits!
I've been seeing the gray circles too. I seem to remember reading in one of the TSBs about the upgrade (v27 or 2006.2
) that these were to indicate city centers. Yeah, I know, so very useful where one city blends into the next.
Cheers!

The grey circles with dots have always been on my NAV through two firmware upgrades and two map disk changes. I am not sure they represent "points of interest" so much as they do "municipal facilities" (police, fire, ambulence, city hall, post office, etc.) I think that the points of interest are covered by the white icons that can be optionally displayed.
Before the upgrade, I thought that the v27 perspective mode would be nice eye candy to wow my friends but if I were seriously using my NAV for position-finding I would use flat mode. I am now finding that I prefer the perspective mode and feel that it gives me more information and better orientation than the other modes. Along with the automatic removal of the "disclaimer screen", I am a total convert to this upgrade....
