I am trying to figure out the difference between these media options? Is the only difference the size of the screen (6.5" vs. 8.8") ?

Connected + Visual Boost

and

Connected + Visual Boost XL

Appreciate any insights.

 

Hopefully others can expand, but basically the differences are the screen size, the handwriting sensor on the top of the iDrive controller ****, Navigation with live traffic, and an on-board hard-drive.

 

Visual Boost:
- 6.5" screen
- Bluetooth audio w/ voice commands (if you get the "Media Package")
- AUX/USB support. The USB port also accepts flash drives loaded up with music

Connected XL:
- Larger, 8.8" screen (which shows more info on screen at once, which is VERY nice IMO)
- 20 GB hard drive built in for music storage
- Navigation with Real Time Traffic Information (RTTI), a free service
- More shortcut buttons on the iDrive controller (NAV/Multimedia/Telephone/Radio as opposed to just Audio and Telephone
- The top of the iDrive controller has a touchpad for touch input while typing, or navigating around the map in Navigation
- Split screen support - the ability to have two things displayed at once (ie: nav on one side, music info on the other)
- Video file support (while parked)
- FLAC support
