picked up a pioneer p6600 head unit and a couple JL 12" subs. we are configuring the install now. also, looking into possible door upgrades and maybe a couple 8"s to balance the boom a lil bit. the amp will be selected when we know how much power we will need.
any thoughts?
any thoughts?
While I find this to be possible, for economical reasons the subs might use parts from the same manufacturer and such, but I find that hard to believe. Just about every JL line of subs is unique, and they don't really have a "lower" line of subs, more like subs that are for different applications.
The W1 is the lowest line of JL sub that I know. Dont know if it shares components with fosgates though. They are not that great but alright. The W3 is similar but dual voice coil and hits way harder.
How does it sound with the H/K? I am interested in adding a sub to my H/K system..
Where did you splice it in at? Did you need a crossover?
Thanks!

OZ Audio
I have a 12" OZ Audio Matrix Elite sub that I'm going to try to fit in the MINI when it arrives! If anyone is looking for an amazing sub OZ Audio is unique and very high quality, they also come with a 3 year warranty. I would recommend the 10" Matrix Elite for the MINI since space is an issue, but I'm still going to try to cram the 12" in. I think the 10" only requires a .75 cuft sealed enclosure.
Anyone else seen or heard the OZ Audio Matrix Elite subs? I love 'em and don't know if I'll ever buy anything different!

removable mojo
I needed 2 cubic feet, and I wanted it to be easly removable. So I built it out of fiberglass. Not all that fancy but sounds awsome. 1 memphis mojo 12". 1 memphis bell 1300. front mbquart qsd216. rear mbquart dkf169. kenwood 817dvd. And most inportantly the beltronics rx75 pro radar detector.
I saw one of you guys has placed your amp under the passenger seat. Looks like the rest of you have your amps next to the battery, like I do.
However, like Jeffrey I have a really bad whine that relates to RPMS -- more RPMs more whine, etc.
The set up seems very well grounded but I still have the problem. Do any of you have experience with this? Anything I should try before I move the amp?
Edit: I should mention that I am grounded to the neutral post on the battery. Is that ok?

msb2tg,
Grand total $1092.36
Installed by Competition Soundworks in Artesia, CA.
The box was $500 the amp was $300.
I wanted to get the amp installed under the seat but it was too wide and wouldn't fit between the seat rails. Maybe in a few years I'll replace it with an amp that will fit under the seat.
This amp has a volume **** that can be mounted so you can adjust while driving, so I had them mount it in the blank panel for the driving lights on the euro parcel shelf.
The system sounds really good, the box doesn't sound like a small box at all. Hits hard and goes nice and deep. Could probably get away with a little smaller amp.

Z-Mini, this is the first legit system I've had, previously I've done my own installs on whatever parts I could afford. The last setup was a box with 2 JL 10W0's with a Jensen amp.
Currently the crossover is set at 40hz. I am going to be driving from SoCal to Reno tomorrow so I will have a better chance to give it a good listening to. I may do some tweaking to the crossover and the gain it's pretty loud right now and difficult to get the volume low enough and not lose a lot of the low-mid's.
I will report any changes when I get back on friday. Fully broken in!

o hell no. rockford fosgate speakers are made in i believe in alabama. by rockford carbanu(hope is spelled that right) anyway its is a rockford company so they make there own speakers and jl are made right at there place in FL. maybe cone of motor assembly maybe shared but they dont make speakers for each other.
