They are available from local audio shops that carry JL Audio equipment. It's a JL audio stealthbox. The amp mount was added on.

Here is my subwofer/amplifier install... I use a Q-Logic subwoofer box.

Not a clean as other install on this thread, but it works great! The bass is awesome, and surprinsing from a "budget" kit. The amp cost me $130, the subwoofer $80 and the box $70.

p.s.: The blue thing behind the box is a toolbox.

++

I made the mold myself using lots of foil, tape and fiberglass.

I have had a ton of people ask me about it so the next time I do one I will take pics and write up a tutorial for everyone.

You should NEVER turn down the bass!!! Ha!

The only time you should turn down the bass is when the cop is driving by , you dont want a ticket do ya?

I finally got my system installed... but now my stock speakers are really bugging me cause I have no mids!
I ended up with a 10" Alpine in the boot and the alpine mono amp under the carpet on the drivers side seat

I also have my CarPC installed... 7" TS mounted on the stock OEM cup holder (It swivels still) and the PC itself is located under the carpet on the Passenger Side Seat.

I will try to get some pics up...

I want to replace my rear/front speakers... I was thinking about getting the Infinity Kappas the KAPPA693.7I for the rears and the KAPPA52.7I for the fronts, do you think I should also replace the tweeter with KAPPA10.7T? (http://www.infinitysystems.com/car/p...y.aspx?cat=MEL)
They have high sensitivity which is a must for me, since I am keeping my OEM Stock HU (at least for now)
I know I can get better sound if I replace the HU, but want to keep the OEM Look.
Any suggestions would be great, thanks.

Arty

Some may have seen at AMVIV...

Here's my Sub setup.. well the whole 5.1 setup :D

Many thanks to BBCooper, without him it wouldnt have been possible

Alpine IVA-D100 DVD head unit
Alpine MRA-D550 Digital Theater Amp (Includes DSP)
2x Alpine MRA-D300 Mono Sub Amps
4x Alpine SPX-177R 6.5" Componenets (doors and rears)
Infinity 3.5" Reference series (Center channel)
2x Infinity 1052w 10" DVC Subs
6 Farad Hybred Tsunami Cap

The subs and amp-rack can be removed in about 15 minutes for AutoX purposes and it all came out of a single sheet of 5/8" MDF.

Looking nice! I still would have tried to do something that sat completely flush with the floor (guessing there wasn't enough space for 3 of those babies?), but that def. works too.

So I was wondering.. Anyone finding that they need a capacitor? Currently at 500w rms, doesn't SEEM to need it (measured voltage, fairly steady) but am really wondering.

finally heres a picture of my inexpensive install

so.. I had 5 goals in mind when I was looking for a subwoofer solution.

1) cheap
2) good sound quality
3) crazy bass
4) removeable
5) some trunk space left

I was going to go with an Infinity base link II solution (10in built-in amp), but then I stumbled on these two separate deals on craigslist.

I got the 3JL 8 inchers with a JL box for 100 bux i think.. or maybe it was 80. All I know is it was 100 or less.

and.. I found a JL 250/1 amp for $150.

I think I managed to accomplish all 5 goals. I don't have alot of space left, but I can put my briefcase, shoes, clothes, groceries etc in there. It's not like I had a whole lot of room to begin with .

This set up ROCKS! I actually have to turn the bass and gain down, because its too darn loud.. ..

Great price!
Are you driving it from stock HU, or what?

I spliced the JL 250/1 amp into my rear speaker wires using one of splicer boxes that convert speaker wires into RCA wires. I can't remember what its called.

This actually works well, because if I want less bass from the subs while I'm driving, I just turn the fader to the "front a little on my HU.

Not that I have noticed, a hole is cut out for the sub so there is just the "carpet" overtop the sub.the carpet moves up and down alot but the floor stays in place. No problems yet after 4 months

nothing fancy on mine. you can see the basslink and the alpine cd changer.
this is a very old pict but nothing has really changed the last couple of
years

the pink hawaiian beach towel is actually an acoustic padding to absorb
reflections from the air compressor box and other emergency gear that
lies beneath it. i was going to put my pyramid wall acoustic padding
in there to place it, but a beach towel has dual uses..like when i need
to put my flat tire in the boot or something, so i just kept it in there.
i should probably find a different color beach towel, but ive been kinda
lazy to replace it.

i have a plug on the basslink that i connect my 12v charger to so that
i can charge the battery in the winter time while my car hibernates without
having to lift the basslink and floor.

Just a quick pic of my gear - sorry about quality, it's off my mobile (shittly motorola's...)
Anyways......
Alpine IVAd310E in dash 7" screen, focal K2P 6.5" splits up front, Audio System Twister series 2x150rms amps x 2, Focal 27V2 11" sub. One amp drives the sub (bridged mono=580rwms) and the other runs the splits. Sound is balanced and cotrolled - built for SQ only.... The car has been pretty much stripped and covered with Dynamat sound deadening too.
The box is an MDF/fibrglass composite, colourmatched in empress black (colour of car) and the amps are mounted on the amp rack made to be a similar shape as the door handles and dash trims (and painted to match). I did this so it blended well into the theme of the interior...

Overall, I love it. It's well balanced to the car, and doesnt look out of place.
Or at least thats what I think! I may be a little bias, but I love it!

holy crap I bet that sounds awesome. I love focal gear. I've got the same splits as you in my truck and the polyglass 3ways in my MINI. I've never been lucky enough to hear a focal sub.
