Blitzsafe and channel 255

I have the HK head unit and 6 disc changer. I just added the Blitzsafe unit MINI sld-01 and terk xm radio.

Everything works fine, but when it is changing between the three XM presets, it wants to go to channel 255 occassionally. It doesn't happen every time, but it is annoying. Is my unit possessed

I have not heard of this issue. What is the frequecy that this occurs? Is it only when using the steering wheel controls, or with the headunit as well? Please advise.

It happens fairly frequently (maybe one out of three times) when using the steering wheel controls to scan channels, when it is switching from the second set of presets to the third set. I have not tried from the head unit - I'll try that and see if it happens.

Mark, there have been plenty of posts here about it in the past. It only happens occaisionally, when teh steering wheel control is used to go between banks of presets. I have it happen both between bank 1-2 and 2-3. Not sure if it is because the channels are on 2 different transponders and the unit jus tmesses up teh switch or what.

This, couple with the fact that it stays on a preset in a given bank, takes the usability of the steering wheel controls down a peg or 2. IF you scroll through onece, then do it agian, you will go right to preset 6 instead of starting over on 1.

There may be something different in the command the steering wheel sends to the headunit that makes the interface/XM tuner react differently. I have tested the interface using the radio to control things and have not been able to duplicate the events listed. If anyone is in the Northern New Jersey area, and would like to come down and show me these issues, please call me to set something up.

I played with it during lunch. It seems to happen if you are changing hte presets rellatively quickly. Something like when you just hear the station come in for a second but you have already jumped to the next one. Then the sound from the next one starts to play and the display will say CH 255, then revert to one or the other station.

LeeL describes it exactly right - it only happens when using the steering wheel control between the preset banks. Too bad I'm not even close to NJ, or I'd be glad to show you.

255 is my favorite channel! Well, it does come up quite a bit and for a while I couldn't get the chrome channel.

I can't explain why it happens.

I can take vidoes with my digital camera. If I can get something decent tonight, I'll try to post it here. It might be hard to capture the button presses though.

The reason it does not do it with the head unit is there is no preset scan feature on the unit, the arrow buttons go from channel to channel. (no need for the feature anyway since the bpreset uttons are right there)

Ever fixed?

Did this issue ever get resolved? I have this same thing happen. It's really annoying when I can't switch the pre-sets with the wheel controls.

I always chalked it up to "it's not a bug, it's a feature..." As best I can tell, the system just gets a bit confused from time to time. It seems to happen when the the display doesn't keep up with the tags when cycling through the preset channels from the steering wheel. For example: I'm flipping up through my presets going from the 5th to the 6th of the second set of 6 then on to the 1st of the third set of 6. If I don't pause at 2:6 and wait for the display to switch from the number to the name of the channel before going on to 3:1, the poor thing gets confused and goes to 255. Same thing happens when it first powers up: As it comes on it first says (wrongly) Sirius then the XM channel number on the display. If I try to change the channel before the name resolves, I go directly to 255. I've come to think of it as a code to chill and slow down.
