The Blitzsafe is the part that connects to your factory wiring, and Blitzsafe don't state anything about the OEM radio/head unit compatibility. They simply state that this unit is compatible with 2001 - 2006 Mini Cooper S. My assumption is that it will probably work! give them a call to confirm (https://www.blitzsafe.com/catalog/contact-us.html)
Both the XM and Blitzsafe boxes were located behind the rear passenger side wheel well access panel. They were attached to the sheet metal with velcro tape. There is factory wiring that the Blitzsafe plugs into. You should find two unconnected wires is there, reach down towards the front of the car a bit and pull them gently out towards you.
The Antenna mounts behind the factory roof antenna. It's magnetic. The cable is routed through the rear hatch loom grommet and then just inside the roof liner (pull out the rubber seal) to the C pillar. Once behind the C pillar the cable is a straight shot to the rear wheel well area access panel. Very quick, easy and tidy. Plus easy to reverse if you need to remove it, as I did!
I hope this helps. PM me if you'd like to discuss further.
