Speed Sensative Volume

I have the 05 HK stereo upgrade and can't seem to find the speed sensative volume option. I have followed the instructions in the manual but it appears that there is no option for this on my head unit, I believe its suppose to be there. Anybody else see this? Am I missing something?

The speed sensative volume option does not work with the HK stereo upgrade.

Don't worry about this feature...

It doesn't work and I find myself turning the option off and adjust the volume manually!

Mine works

I have a non HK radio so I know this doesn't apply but the feature does work well. You can adjust the "sensitivity" to speed. Seems to increase the volume right around 40 mph which is good because thats where the intake comes in at. The intake still sounds better than the radio however....

I've been told that the SC volume is "built-in" to the H/K units and there is no on/off function as described in the base radio manual that comes with the MINI. I don't have a db meter to measure actual output but do believe it is working by default, though not as much difference, or any adjustablity as I have in my "other" vehicle (a GM).

I second this... as I know this to be true in the H/K Upgraded stereo's. Luckly, it's preset is not to bad. I can hear it working... anymore would be too much.

It would certainly would have been nice to know we didn't have this adjustability factor - BEFORE we paid the price to upgrade to the H/K.

Change your mind?

Minimonkey would that have changed your decision to purchase the HK unit?

still not clear

I'm gonna give this thread a bump because I need some clarification.
(yes, I've searched the threads, but didn't find the answer)

I have the STOCK Head Unit in my '05 MCS. The dealer told me this comes with the Speed Sensitive Volume Control. (the H/K does not)

When I go to adjust it by pressing the "musical note" there is a value from 1 to 6. I can't figure out what the difference is.
Does the lower the value set supposed to make it more sensitive?
Does the higher the value set supposed to make it louder?

any body have experience with this feature?

1 means that as your speed increases, the stereo will only minimally adjust the volume, while 6 means that it will make the maximum volume adjust to compensate for increased cabin noise.

Hope that helps.

the H/K and standard systems us the same head unit.

the H/K's speed volume doesnt work because its automaticly adjusted, unless your at full volume.
