broken antenna base

Garage door came down without warning and broke off my antenna, at the base, the antenna is o.k., but the base snapped at the location of antenna mount, where antenna screws in. I have super glued, for a temporrary fix, but suspect I'll have to replace the base. Anyone out there know how to remove base, with out guggering up the roof? , Also anybody sella replacement besides dealer?

Just posted my MCSC satellite antenna install where I removed the antenna above windshield cowl which was secured by a single nut from underneath. I realize the hardtop model antenna is located in a different spot, but would guess the attachment is the same - i.e. somehow come at it from the underside. Hope that helps and good luck!

Ok I have a similar problem because some jerkoff stole my antenna AND base. So I have the attractive nut protruding from my roof. Where can I find replacement base? I already bought the short antenna but have no way to attach it.

My antenna base is ruined, and now I have to replace it. Has anyone found a good base besides the one from the dealer? They want about 70 bucks to replace it. Also, has anyone done the repair? How hard is it to remove the head liner?

-Thanks

This only applies to the 2005 Mini with no Sirius or GPS. Anything older, I just don't have any experience with.

Climb in the back seat. Remove the motion sensor cover. If you have an alarm, remove the motion sensor. With a pair of pliers, reach back and loosen the nut that attaches to the antenna. It's about 1.5 inches across. Reach in with your fingers and turn it the rest of the way. The nut will come off. Put it in the back seat cupholder so you won't lose it. Now, pull the larger wire toward you. It will be the coax cable for the antenna. The clip will pull down through the hole where the cover was. Un-clip it. Get out of the back seat, open the boot, and pull the rubber seal surround off so that you see the headliner. CAREFULLY reach in the center and drop the liner. To the right of the plastic headliner holder, there is the wire that goes to the rear defrost. Disconnect that, and pull the antenna out of the roof. Reverse to re-install.

BE CAREFUL and Good Luck.
