Check the 2nd Gen forum. It's a completely different system.

I don't condone torrents.... If you need an updated disk then head to MINI and get one.

If anyone who has updated their software is interested in selling their older version, please let me know. I need one from 2005 or better. I bought my Mini used, and was missing the disc.

are you talking about the firm ware, or the map DVD in the player under the seat.
Email me tubbs@austin.rr.com

How do you turn the voice off altogether in Nav?

Sorry if this has been answered already, but I dug through and didn't see it.

I have a 2006 Mini Cooper S Convertible with Nav and I have never been able to figure out how to just turn OFF the voice altogether. Just moved to San Diego so I'm using the Nav a lot more but I just find the voices annoying (I switched to British woman voice a long time ago, but I would prefer to have no sound).

Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks

Can someone provide the most current date/version of the map software? I'm looking around online and getting slightly conflicting information.

Thank you

Anyone out on the West Coast have the latest version of the firmware?

I would rather buy a copy of the disc than burn one and potentially fry my nav system.

I'm in So Cal and in the local SCMM club out here, but no one seems to know how to get a hold of the disc...

I would love to get the so called birds eye view (perspective) instead of what I got now.

Any help would be great...

I think I still have it somewhere, it was easy to update too. I'll see if I can find it for you.

Pkars- Where do you live?

I have the latest firmware its Version number 32...

Technically illegal cause mine is a burned copy

I'd be happy to send a copy, only difference is the perspective mode really, the thing that will make your NAV even better is you need to upgrade the MAP DVD's to 2010 version or newer. I have 2010 map disc's and it is a huge improvement over the 2006 disc..

Thanks for sending me the latest version. I live in VA. Send me a note to my e-mail and I will send you my address. I will look into geting a newer Map DVD. Does version 32 show a clock/time in the Nav screen? That would really help vs temp.

Sorry I haven't got back to you sooner, I've been really busy with work and school just stared up recently.

So on the new firmware V32, no it doesn't show the clock time, the clock is displayed underneath your speedo on LED screen. It would be nice if it did show it though, only difference is now when you input a destination it gives you a time clock for estimated time of arrival to your location. If that makes since...

A friend is burning me another copy of the firmware CD, so as soon as he gets back to me, (hopefully soon) I can send out a copy to you...

But like I said the newer DVD maps make the biggest difference, as in I have the 2010 version, 2011 hasn't been released for our Navigation system yet, at least for R53's...

I don't have the exact program to download the maps on my computer, and I'm reluctant to because I don't want a virus or something like that or else I would have a long time ago...
As it has taken me a year to find someone with updated discs, and only met the guy when he was in California for like a weekend a got super lucky...

Oh by the way there are only 2 map DVD's for our NAV one for West Coast, the other for East Coast, not like 10 or 11 like I have heard other people say...

The best bet would be if your in a local MINI club out there to find someone who the updated maps and burn a copy from them, instead of spending the big $$$$ on one from the dealership.

Firmware is free. Maps, not so much.

So, a couple of questions; what's the lates version I can load on a 2005? And do I need to update the firmware for the most current version (if it works on a 2005)? If so, does the firmware upgrade come with the new Version?

Thanks,

Clarification - There are maps which reside on the disc and are read by the Nav. There is firmware which is loaded onto the Nav via disc.

The latest firmware version is V32 (4-1/00)
The latest maps are 2011

The maps and firmware are dealt with separately. You may be able to get your dealer to update your firmware, or you can download it as noted earlier in this thread.
You don't need new firmware to use the newer maps, though depending on your current version, the newer firmware may add functionality.

So what is the best and cheapest way to get the new maps?

I've got an 05 r50 and i'm still using the original maps and firmware. Does the firmware really make a big difference?
