Take the key out the ignition and tap the eject button. It may take awhile to eject but it will. If that doesn't work, disconnect the battery for 5 min and reconnect, then press eject again.

Hmm. Our disks are slightly different. My disk actually shows the Part# and the manufacture date. Are you sure that your disk is a original and not another copy? My was ordered directly from a BMW dealership. Look at my attachment.

Can you send me the ebay link to where you purchased that disk? Yes, BMW & Mini do not keep that disk any longer. I only got mine because I knew a friend that worked at BMW and made a special order for my disk. It took almost a 1/12 months for me to receive the disk since it came directly from Germany. You may have difficulty finding it.

Do you have the MK4 nav? What year is your Mini? This update disk that we are talking about only works for Mini's that came equipped with the MK4 ie 2005/2006.

Does your navigation system unit have cd-rom written on it or DVD?

I did yes, I'm wondering if I need to install the original software first as the system has crashed.

That's what I'm thinking. Maybe that should work. Then you can upgrade from that. The dealer should be able to install the original

There should be a code in the top right hand corner of the settings screen like SW 4-1/00

Not sure, but I think SW 4-1/100 is the latest for the '05 DVD based systems. It has a 3D view mode and the auto cancellation of the safety screen after about 15 seconds. I haven't used the 3D mode, but having the safety screen disappear automatically is great. It's the only reason I upgraded.

If I buy 2015 update disk from BMW High DVD format I read online should work with the 2005 system. My question is will the DVD also update the fireware to 4-1/00 or do i need separate disk. Any one have a disk that works for sure they want you sell.

This firmware disc was a separate disc. Check with your dealer... the MA at my dealer was offering to upgrade the system for free a few years ago. It should take only a few minutes if no issues pop up. Also, the disc used to be available from MINI for about $9. Maybe Pelican or ECS can still get the disc.

The NAV map discs after 2009 are on two discs and not one. It probably won't matter unless you frequently cross territories of the discs.
