Any Alternative to iPod?

I really hate to take it in the shorts for an Apple hard drive system. Couple hundred bucks more than eqivalent other 40 gig mp3 systems. Maybe a denison hard drive?

or Where to get the Ipod cheaper thasn list?

If you look around you can usually find iPods cheaper than list. For instance Apple themselves sell refurbished iPods at the online store for $100 cheaper. Same warranty as a new one.

I've played with several competing players the iPod is definately worth the extra money. It's also much nicer than a in-dash unit because it can be used for everything from car audio, a home stereo (hooked up to an amp and some speakers which is how i use it) to music for working out and even to file storage.

I got the Dell 20gig and it is a great unit and the battery lasts for 16 hours.

I love it,

I've been on the denison website for the ice link and when I look at it it seems it would be cheaper to go with their MP3 player(not the head unit), and get the same functionality to include mfsw support.

I too, thought the Aplle IPod was too expensive for what thet gave you. Therefore, after doing some research I purchased an I River IHP-120. This unit not only has a 20GB MP3 player, but also has an FM Tuner, voice recorder, a remote with an info. display screen and a battery that lasts up to 16 hours. All this and it's cheaper than an IPod! It retails for $399.00, but I waited awhile for a good price online, I paid approx. $322.00 with free shipping from Amazon. I hope this helps you out with your decision.

Cheers, Harper.

I think this may be my first post (big time lurker), anyway I dont listen to too many Mp3's but have a large CD collection, and all I do for Mp3's is change them to .wav and put them on my Mini Disk player.
Yeah I know MD owners are few and far between but Sony is coming out with a new MD that will upgrade the disk to a Gig and will play Mp3's.

I am only loyal to MD for 3 reasons.
1. I own one
2. I can put 4 of my cd's on one disk and the quality becomes about that of an Mp3.
3. I run with it, and a regular CD player is too big to carry.

But once the new MD players come out I'll buy one, and hand mine down to my lil' sister. I seriously have no need for 20 or 40 gigs of Mp3s, MD's are so small that I can carry 3 or 4 with me with no problem. That and I can get a MD changer for my car.

Target.com slices 10% off with no minimum required via coupon code "TDAW2SAVETEN". This offer includes iPods. After discount, the iPod 15GB costs $269.99. The iPod 20GB costs $359.99. The iPod 40GB costs $449.99. Sales tax and shipping are extra. (The iPod mini 4GB would cost $224.99, but it's currently not available for ordering.) Offer ends April 30, 2004.

I have the Denson 40 gig system and it is perfect for me . I mounted it under the driver seat and I can pul the drive out of its docking station , plug it into a firewire box on my PC and download up to 1,000 hrs of mp3. The files are all set up to your liking just like on your computer.

That's the big point here - it's not about price but user experience. It's actually much like buying a 20k MINI over a 20k Neon in my book. Sure there are things a little cheaper here and there but every review I've ever read has praised the iPod and called it the best out there. Again a lot like that MINI.

Why do you have the satellite control for the denison? I thought you could control it from head unit or the steerin wheel.

I prefered the satalite unit as I plan on swaping out my steering wheel at some point. I also was able to download my own Maxmini Logo to the wake up screen which is good for a laugh at the shows.
