How to turn off Nav display

This is a tad unusual.

'03 MCs with factory Nav. Due to a variety of situations it no longer has the Nav system unit under the passenger seat. It's gone.

That's no problem to me, I just want to turn off its big display in the dash.

The display is on all the time - glows faintly at night and makes noise.

I'd like to disable it - by removing the fuse? But I don't know if taking the fuse out will kill other functions. Aanyone know?

Anyone know which fuse to remove to disable this?

Any other ideas?

I believe it is a lot easier than looking for a fuse. Under "Settings" you can turn the display on or off.

Thanks for the reply.

What do you mean by "Settings"?

Note that I said that there is no Nav system in the car - it's gone. All I have is the tube, and it's on and sorta glowing. But if there is a "Settings" I would certainly do it.

There should be a button marked "Menu" press that and one of the choices will be "Turn Monitor Off".

If the Nav brains aren't there, he may not have the option. Given that the firmware is loaded through the Nav, it's possible that the OBC/Nav/Settings/Monitor Off options are controlled via the Nav brains.

The display unit is connected to fuses F22 and F10. Try either or both together, and check whether you lose anything else. The important thing is whether the fuel gauge and warning lights still work. F10 is also connected to the radio, but this isn't the radio's main fuse and I don't know how the radio uses it.

Here is a complete list of fuses and what they are for.

In that list, the Nav display is "on-board monitor" (as it is also called in the MINI/BMW wiring diagrams).

I believe you are right, now the trick is to sort out which fuse is the one Negrel needs to pull there are several connected to the display and/or the nav unit.

Perhaps a work around would be to get behind the display and pull the plug there.
