Hi-Fi front speaker replacement. Thud! Thud! Noise?
Last night I swapped the front door speakers on my R56 with HIFI with 2 sets of Infinity reference:
6022si to replace the 6.5" and 3022cf to replace the 3.5". They are 2 ohms and should not drain too much power from the stock amp.
Now, I followed the wiring colors and instructions on the sticky and everything went fairly smooth, including the mirror switch.
However, today I noticed that the left front 6.5 is making a very strange noise. Even with the bass set at -2, I get a sound that I can only describe as when someone taps into an open microphone (Thud!, Thud!) when the bass in playing.
Tomorrow I'll be switching the speakers left to right to check if I got a defective set, and will double check the wiring colors. Any ideas or suggestions besides that?
Thanks!

Take off the foam that is attached to the circular speaker cover on the door panel....I'd bet this will solve your problem.
For left lower woofer - black/redstripe +, black/violetstripe -

Problem solved!
Thanks guys!
I took the speaker out today and found one of the copper wires that feeds the main cone was touching it. I would have never thought of looking there...
Bent it back with the trim removal tool and re-tightened the speaker onto the door (found it a bit loose), and everything is OK now.
Thanks again for the suggestions!!
