Trouble programming my new Bluetooth

Hi, first time poster here, My Mini is finally back to me after being in the shop for 5 weeks to get the bluetooth fixed. (it's a 2009 Cooper, no nav) I'm attempting to program it to call names, but after programming the first name, every other name I try is either "already entered" or my pronunciation of the name is "too different". When I got it back from the Dealership (Universal MINI) they insisted that the computer just can't work well with voice recognition without the nav system, but it seems to understand numbers perfectly. Any ideas on how to make it work? Or do I need to program a name, leave for 30 minutes and program another name?

Thank you!

EDIT: was so engrosed in trying to get you some answers to yoru questions that i forgot to Say Welcome to NAM and stick around and endjoy the commeradery.

Okay to start with here are the rules behind the Non NAV system.

1. You must program the Voice tags youf self.
2. There is a limit of twenty vocie name/number combinations.
3. It only works with a very very very limited set of phones.
4. The words used to program the system are NOT correct in the book.

So to start with check this thread to see if any one else has been able to get your type of phone working with the voice tags on a Non NAV car. You may need to get a Google Docs sign in.

Second If you have not already done so move the bluetooth microhone as shown here. There is a video of how to do it in more thatn one of the posts.

Third. check this thread for the correct voice dialing tags. But read the whole thread as some have found that there seesm to be tow sets of correct voice tags. Neithr of which are in the book that come wiht the car.

Also i found with my Motorola phone which had voice dialing capabilities built in it messed up the MINI voice dialing system. Here is what i had to say aobut it in anohter post.

If all this fails to help you get it working come back and let us know and we wil ltry to be of more assistance.

If you find something different while trying to get it to wokr please also post that info back here for others to use.

If it all works out jsut great with this info please let us know so that we know.

Good luck. I now have swithed to a blackberry and still have problems with the voice dialing in the MINI. I have jsut chalked it up to the software designers and hardware designers at MINI/BMW just need to do a better job. I still love tha car and this is a very minor inconvience.
