New system installed... some issues arisen
So the audio equipment has been installed
Focal V3r set up front
Alpine PDX 4.100 4 channel amp
fosgate 360.2
and alpine s type 3 way 6x9s in the rear
and I am now getting a high pitched noise.. the tone of which increases as you push the gas pedal and is there, with the audio turned down, muted, etc....
I am also getting white noise when the audio is muted or turned down
I think it's the rockford fosgate 360.2 and it being a general PoS. lol
--
Additionally, the car isn't saving my bass/treble settings (the ones adjustable from the nav screen). When I turn the car off, come back to it later, start up... it pushes the treble all the way up... and the bass all the way up...
Any thoughts on that?

Engine Noise
It sounds like you are getting engine noise coming through your speakers. You may want to move your power line to your amp and check the ground for your amp. I have two amps running off a stock radio with no engine noise. Everything was professionally installed.
Hey that is so funny I was going to make the same post today! I, too, just had an install of a 360.2 with new speakers and a RF Punch sub two days ago myself, and I am getting the same whine sound...
I am gonna call my guys (the pros that installed it!) today and see what they think and what they can do to fix, but if anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear them as well...

My advice:
unless you REALLY NEED on the fly eq adjustments, and all that staging stuff the 360.2 does, get rid of it... sell it, etc..
and put a regular line level converter
I ended up doing that today, and it fixed the problem.

Other Things to Be Aware Of
Another thing you want to watch out for is where you route your signal wires. On the mini, there is a large transformer on the left side behind the center instrument section. You'll want to bring the wires out to the right and straight down but not parallel to the airbag wires.
These sound processors have high-impedance/high-gain inputs so they have the potential to pickup the smallest amount of noise(it'll amplify capacitively/inductively coupled noise and stray RF).
Yet another thing to consider, probably much more important, is the head unit ground. The head unit is grounded to the wiring harness and who knows where the ground goes. That wire alone can carry a ton of noise that you will not hear if you have the stock setup but you will hear if you put in a high-impedance/high-gain component in at the speaker level outputs.
What I did for one system was create custom shielded twisted pair for the head unit to the sound processor. I grounded the shield at the source and left the other end floating. I also regrounded the head unit to go straight to a solid ground. The system had zero audible noise.
One last thing: Please dont blame the sound processors. Unless they are defective or el-cheapo brand, they are not the source of the problem.

right now I'm trying to get rockford to exchange it for a new one... as I couldn't get the 3sixty to connect to my palm, pc, etc... via bluetooth like it's supposed to. So I do think something is wrong with it.
When / If they do, I will have the audio shop put it back in... that way I can do a little bit of tuning... nothing major.. I actually want the extra Auxillary Audio in...
That's VERY handy... as I religiously run the iPhone/iPod and XM Radio.. and it's a hassle to swap the cables out when I want to crossover (no john edwards reference intended) :-p lmao
I will save the info you gave me tho... and mention it to them. ..
thanks!

I had a whine too - it was coming from the crossovers for my focals being located to close to a power wire under the dash. Relocated the crossovers about 6" and the whine is gone.
I absolutely love my 360.2

I did my install over the past weekend and am also getting some odd noises. I've noticed a high-pitched whine, but pretty low level, seems to increase in pitch with the RPM's; alternator whine?
I'm also getting a buzzing noise when the headlamps are on, or when the brake lights are on.
I am using line output converters, but ran speaker level from the head unit to under the passenger seat where the LOC's are at.
I think I could live with the high pitched whine; it's pretty low level I really only notice it if the stereo is off.
The buzz with the lights has got to go though...
I ran 4 gauge power to the battery. I found an unused ground lug about mid-way down the passenger side door and used that for ground. Did not replace the alternator wiring or the battery to body ground; although I have recently read that is recommended by some.
Crossovers for the front speakers are in the doors. Speakers are Focal 165VR3 in the front and 690CVX in the rear. Amp is Alpine PDX5. LOC's are Scosche, not sure of the model.
Any suggestions?

yup. alternator whine. It is either a not good enough ground or some speaker/input wires are too close to some electrical component.

Not sure about this but if a bad ground is the cause of your alternator whine this one might disappear when you find the solution.

I used the Scosch LOC until I got the rockford 360.2 - it worked well enough.

While replacing "the big three" is recommended, that isn't the cause of your noise. You may try another grounding point.

Sounds very much like my setup.
Any suggestions?
Just check your grounds and try relocating your crossovers. Maybe they are close to some electrical wires in the door?
Make sure you don't have any input/speaker wires close to any other wires in the car.
