Navigation & Audio Bluetooth compatibility list
Hi all, looks like I missed a thread update e-mail... lots of replies here, sorry!
Thanks for the report, glad to hear that you got it paired!
Since the Bluetooth connection is digital, it's much more likely that a physical connection somewhere is causing the static. You may want to check the location of the car's built-in microphone- most people find it in the UK location and get better response by moving it to the left hand side of the car:

You never know, you might end up fixing a poor connection at the same time.
Awesome! Thanks for the detailed info, it's now in the list
That's great to hear that there might be some updated snap-ins on their way! Up until now, all the BMW snap-ins have worked without issue, although some dealerships warned customers that they're not officially supported and could cause problems. So far, there's no issues that I've heard of; and when the official 'MINI' version shows up it's the same part number in a BMW box.
Thank you! Also now in the list
Hi Richie, thanks- some phones have power saving or automatic reconnect options that need to be changed for things to work without re-connecting them constantly. I skimmed through the Bluetooth section of the phone's manual, but didn't see anything that might point you in the right direction. Some phones prompt for permission to auto-reconnect after the first pairing (Windows Mobile in particular) Try deleting the pairings from both the car and the phone and then re-pair them, keeping an eye on the phone for a prompt like that?
Making me jealous!
Thanks for checking it out, it's not often we know before a phone is released :D It's in the list!

I didn't see the LG 365 Neon on the list. I have been able to pair the phone but within a day or two it has lost connection. I have been trying to leave the phone on all the time and it seems to be working still. I thought that when it gets turned off the connection is lost, not sure if that is the cause.
Any thoughts?

Although I haven't had to check in regarding a new phone in a long time, I just want to go on the record to applaud you nicknbecka for keeping your lists up-to-date. and your labor of MINI bluetooth love.
I also would like to extend my thanks to everyone who keeps posting here and adding in new phones.

+1. This is a great thread.
My input: Blackberry Curve 8530 does not work. Specifically, the constant static on outgoing audio is present.
I have a couple questions:
1. Do I need the smartphone prep to pursue the nifty BMW cradle solution that ckakats employed with the BB Bold? (I have Comfort Bluetooth with no cradle in my center armrest.)
2. Are there other solutions to consider? (Nothing else jumped out at me when skimming through the thread, but I thought I'd ask anyway...)

2. you should not need smart phone prep on you car and if my memory serves me correctly your car could not have had smart phone prep as it is an 08 and smart phone came out in 09. But you do need the arm rest cradle for the BB. all it does is charge the phone though as you car does not have smart phone prep and it would be very very expensive to add.
3. other solutions? do you mean for powering and using it as a music source or something else. Not sure what you are looking for but there may be many other solutions depending on what you are looking for.
can anyone please help me im having problem pairing up with my motorola droid a855.....ive been trying like everyday but no luck and also i took it back to the dealer where i got it from but still nothing...thanks
Also I have a few questions
1. Are you inputting the pairing codes in the phone and the car?
2. Does the phone show up as paired if you press the menu button and then the phone button?
3. If the phone shows up what does not work? If it is the contact list/phone book that may just mean that it has not finished transferring all the data. some phones will take 3-4 hours to transfer the data the first time.
I am trying to find a cell phone that will work on my 2008 Clubman. According to the MiniUSA approved phone list pairing procedures the year of manufacture is important for compatibility. In the wonderful spreadsheet on this thread there is no category for year of car manufacture. Is it an issue or not? Thanks for your help.

As far as I can tell, we haven't had a case where the manufacturing date of the car was the only difference. There was some unexplained diffeneces for the LG VX1000 at one point, if I remember correctly, but that's about it.
If you have a 2010 convertable ane your calls can't be understood because of static there is a solution. The problem is a bad software patch that is in newer cars. My dealer finally got BMW to respond by putting in an older version of software and the calls are clear as a bell! It requires a BMW engineer to update the software with a laptop on site.

Motorola Droid 2... Pairs, connects, syncs address book and allows voice dialing by contact name. Near perfect. Except for the fact that there is considerable static on both incoming and outgoing audio. I have yet to install a phone mount so perhaps if I get the Droid in a stable place the static will decrease some? Guess I am grasping at straws but its rather frustrating as I finally have a phone that works fully with the MINI only to now be stuffed up by poor call quality.
Suggestions?

So, I'm getting a good rate on an upgrade through Sprint, but a couple of the phones I'm interested in, I haven't seen on the master spreadsheet. Specifically, does anyone have any experience with Samsung Seek or the LG Rumor Touch?
If you're expecting the address book contacts to be dialable through the voice system, you'll either need a car equipped with the factory installed nav system or you'll need to setup voice tags without the nav system.
There's another thread by Schatzy62 about creating manual tags in a non-nav car here. If that doesn't answer your question, please post again with more details on the issue you're having. Thanks!
It sounds like you had another phone that didn't have static problems with the Mini? If so, I wonder if you're having interference issues of some sort? Does it change any if you turn WiFi off/on?
Haven't seen anything on the Seek or Rumor yet- both of them use their own proprietary OS, which seems to be hit-or-miss on compatibility. In general most of Samsung and LG's newer phones have been working- I'd say they're about even in chances for working.
As usual, thank you Nick. My wife actually just bought the Samsung Seek, and it seemed to have paired fine, address book and all, and I made a call from it. I've only tested it the once, but everything seemed to work great.
Droid X and 08 Clubman Non-NAV. Phone paired without problems. As with Non NAV cars the voice dialing must be set up in the car. I played for a few minutes with the voice dial on the phone itself but does not work very well from initial testing will have to do much more with it to see what it takes to get it to work.
Only thing I can say about the pairing from helping someone else is that the phone auto sets up to the discoverable mode and you must turn that off before trying to pair with the MINI
Call quality is better than with my old BB 83330 Curve. No static incoming or out going.
The only problem I have is that when a call comes in if I use the answer button on the phone the phone set to speaker and not to the bluetooth. If i use the steering wheel button or the dash button to pick up the incoming call it goes thru the bluetooth.
The Car Dock for the phone is very good sets the phone up to a Car Dock mode which makes bigger buttons on the screen for use in dialing names and looking for contacts. much easier to use than the dial and buttons on the dash. But then again I have it mounted where I can touch it with my fingers without taking my hand off the steering wheel.
And as smart phones go this is AWESOME. Will post pics of the mounting and screens when I can get pictures of them.

Question: Does BB Bold 9700 *really* sync with '10 MC?
Just got the car this week. My 9700 will pair with the car, make/take calls and while the contacts show up in the phone screen, when I try to dial by voice it says "the phone book is empty." Also, some of the numbers aren't showing on the car's menu, such as a friend with three numbers in my phone but the car only shows two. (The 9700 is listed in the spreadsheet as compatible but not on Mini's site - just the 9000 is listed there. My contacts are not on the SIM card. The numbers missing don't have asterisks. BB v. 5.0.0.602.)

- Will the snap in adapter for the Blackberry Bold 9700 part number 842-121-79637 solve this problem?
- Is there another solution (besides using a different phone)? I'd prefer to see the phone so I remember to take it out with me.

- Anyone know if the Nexus One syncs? Mine is broken but I may get it fixed sooner if it does...

- Also any cool phone holder recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi All,
I've reviewed the great spreadsheet by Nicknbecka which helped immensely with my last phone but am contemplating either the Verizon samsung fascinate (droid platform) or Droid x. It appears that the Droid x is the safer choice however I was wondering if anyone has even tried the fascinate yet.
I may stop by a Verizon store and see if they will let me try it out in my 09 MCS.
Thanks!
