Audio rookie needs suggestions on iPod and Bluetooth

I just got an ipod, yes my first if you can believe that. We have a 2005 MCS with H/K audio and MFSW. I would like to add bluetooth for our phones and ipod integration.

I understand that the first version of the ipod adapters did not integrate the playlist. I would like to get something that allows you to control playlists and display text on the headunit. I have the iphone and my wife has the shuffle. I think the shuffle only has a headphone jack. Is there a kit that would allow for both the iphone and shuffle to be used? Which do you recommend.

Bluetooth question. My steering wheels has the two extra phone buttons. Is there a kit that would integrate the car speakers and the button to be used? We have a new baby and want to minimize risk while driving with our son.

thanks
Cenk

There is an OEM bluetooth solution, but it is VERY pricey according to Motoringfile ($1250!)

For the shuffle, you'd need just the Aux-input ~$40. You could also use that for the iphone, but there's no integration. IMO the OEM ipod adapter is pretty weak - you get 5 playlists, and the name must start with MINI. No real text on the head unit. You may want to look into a DICE unit.

You don't say if you have Nav. If you did, the Intravee II is an awesome solution for integration.

no nav in the car. I was hoping that the DICE unit would have the aux input in order to save another $40. I think i might go that route.

thanks

The Dice does have a aux input.

I like the idea but I'm not thrilled with the screen and control displayed in plain sight.

In NYC, if you just leave a white charger cord plugged in, a thief will assume you have a ipod stashed away somewhere and break into your car

I have that OEM Bluetooth solution. It's great, but just like the Intravee, it's only worth consideration if you have the factory Nav.

EAS also sells a "slimmed down" version of the same kit (i.e. uses same control module - a newer version of it actually), which leaves out the armrest / phone dock stuff.

On the Ipone issue I am going with the DICE radio interface kit for $149.

For the bluetooth, crutchfield has the parrot kit for $209. Am I missing something, because some of you pointed out that the kit is $300+.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

2 questionbs on the parrot kit.

1- I have the mymini exhaust. the cabin is louder than stock. Will it be too tough to carry on a decent conversation?

2- my car has the MFSW. I dont think it means that the car is automatically set up with bluetooth right? Something else either factory or aftermarket needs to be added to make those buttons function.

thanks

I thought there was an aftermarket kit that would plug and play into the MINI?

I bought the DICE for my fiancee's car, going to put it in this weekend.

For BlueTooth without Nav, you can't go wrong with this kit from newministuff.com:
http://www.newministuff.com/new/shop...uctshow&id=256
It's completely plug and play, works with HK, and is controlled through the steering wheel. I was able to hide the mic so there is no visible evidence of having a BlueTooth kit. Contact Mike to see if he's still offering the NAM special with free shipping.

I can't say how well it will work with your exhaust as I have a stock one. But is uses the Parrot system which appears to be very good and does a very good job filtering out the road noise.

Just wanted to add that I'm looking into this solultion also. I am considering the wiring harness from newministuff and buying the Parrot separate I am torn between the CK3100 or the 3200LS I am not sure my Treo 700wx (sprint) will push the photo caller id to make the difference. Anyway, a better price source for the Parrot portion is http://www.abesofmaine.com I can vouch for their reliablity as I've purchased many electronics from them. They will also call to confirm your purchase and often offer accessories at great discounts.

I'd love to find out if Mike is offering NAM discount for the harness portion.
