Off the top of my head they are 1 1/4" deep and 8" in diameter. There is not much room behind them. I've used spacers and have a design somewhere to raise different brands of speakers up slightly

hmmm the f55 6 speaker audio system has 4 inch door speakers x4 and 8 inch woofers under seat x2.

Gladen and Focal offer factory upgrades to bmw cars and a audio dealer on minif56 offers a Gladen plug and play for f56.I prefer Focal but they need a little more mounting depth vs the Gladen speakers.

Sorry misread......yes 4" is correct. 3 bolt pattern though. Most 100mm speakers are 4 bolt so you will need to make a template.

Check my photos. You will never bottom out the door speakers.

I use KRS 100's (Focal). When you buy a small run made to fit in a BMW/MINI speaker most of your money goes to that and not the quality of the speaker KMS 100's are another world from the IFBMW-S and cost around the same. They are 4 bolt pattern though so you will need an adapter ring.

I used them as backs in my MCS and that was my opinion....cheap sounding. You get what you pay for with vehicle specific speakers.

If get some me A Pillars the ones that take the tweeterstweeters. That will get the sound stage up near your ears. If you have the floor speakers...The box is so small you are better to leave them and add a sub...imho.

The HK system is not that bad. The bad point is that you cant tune the mids so it may sound of sometimes but however it moves air.

The only big downpoint is that the rear tweeters sounds very bad. Mine look like they are busted since i bought the car. There's a static sound in them which i dislike but i will tell the dealer about it.

Plan to upgrade the base cooper s system.Have been looking at focal, gladen and rainbow oem plug and play speaker upgrade for doors and undersea subs using a aftermarket amp .

Does anyone know if the base system is 4 channel or 6 channel?

Head unit puts out 4 channels in both system. The delivery is different though on the base and HK system when it comes to interaction with ASD unit. Is your a Justa or a Cooper S?

Cooper S f55 us build 4x4 inch and 2x subs under seat. Are they running the subs off 2 channels and the 4s off the other channels or front 4s and subs on same channel with a crossover?

Plan to include audison bit dsp.

Check the wiring diagram. I think I have posted it before. Problem with the S is that the ASD directly outputs to the speakers. If you are going to put another amp in that is possible but IMO you should build a bypass harness for the ASD or it will sound like you have a hole in your muffler!
Take a look here (there is a diagram of how your system is wired) https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...esign-asd.html
