IceLink Plus gets hot

I have a Dension Icelink Plus and just noticed ywesterday that the adapator unit gets quite hot. Is it normal for the unit to get hot even when the car is switched off? What is it drawing power for?
I had the unit wrapped in friction tape and velcro'd to the bottom of my armrest, but I took the tape off thinking it will provide easier circulation since the car gets so hot.
So anyway, can someone tell me how hot this unit should get and is it drawing too much power when the car is off?
Thanks.

The ice>Link has a heatsink, it is normal to generate heat even when turned off. As long as you are not experiencing battery issues (some ice>Links were known for this), you are fine.

Otherwise, I would recommend upgrading to the DICE if you are experiencing issues:

Thanks for the info. How do the battery issues manifest itself? I have had the battery replaced under warranty in Feb (39 months old old) but I thought it was due to a defective battery that was reported as a TSB on this site.
No problems with the battery since.

Excessive battery drain is a sign of the ILP module failing.

A few questions:
Does the DICE unit get hot at all?
How big is the unit compared to the Ice>Link?
Can I scroll through more than five playlists using my steering wheel controls, or am I limited to using the iPod wheel?
Thanks!

1. The DICE does not throw off any heat, unlike the ice>link.
2. The DICE module is about the size of a deck of cards.
3. You are permitted as many Playlsits as you wish, and to name them however you like. The Playlists can be accessed through the radio, steering wheel or the iPod's Clickwheel.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Tom:
Does the DICE unit still draw power from the MINI battery even when the car is off? What about when the iPod is disconnected?
Thanks.

The DICE will stop charging the iPod and go into a sleep mode, pulling very little power, about 1/4 that of the changer.

Thanks for the information. I think I'm sold on an upgrade.
Tell me, can I fit my 4G iPod w/ an iSkin cover into the DICE cradle or is that not adjustable?

The cover needs to be removed for the DICE cradle, but the ProClip cradle can allow it to remain:
