How have I never heard of this? Do you defeat the safety switch on the clutch pedal? Do the keys have to be in the ignition too? So many questions..

 

Keys still have to be in, and I'm guessing the clutch pedal still has to be pressed. Check out this thread on it:

As far as I know, it was never officially offered as an accessory in the US. So most people have never seen it before. The last kit I purchase was in 2008 and it was probably one of the last few new kits left in the world at the time

I know they’re still out there. How many is another question entirely.

 

I have tried a google and e-bay search in the U.K., and so far nada. Searched both "retrofit kit" and part numbers.

 

These have been NLA for a very long time, and were very rare. Might have better luck checking on some of the UK forums.

 

This one was discontinued back in 2010.

The suggestion to look in the UK is a good one. I've seen some pretty cool and rare mini stuff show up on eBay UK.
