Blake wears out tires in months no matter what the wear rating may be.

When it comes to tire wear remember that rating number is purely a subjective thing guys. Each tire maker decides what the wear number will be for a given tire. There is no government or industry mandates for equivalents between brands just some rough mileage estimates for a range of numbers. My current potenza have 18,322 miles on them with plenty of tread left and they are wear rated at 180. Two previous sets of azenis barely made 10,000 miles and they're rated something like 140. Track useage and alignments were the same for the three sets of tires. Go figure.

Oh............and there is no way to use Blake as a constant in the mileage equation owning to his famous use of the roads in the hills of the Sierras.

Your right Cliff . Here is alittle blurb from Tire Rack:

When looking at UTQG ratings it is important to realize that the Department of Transportation does not conduct the tests. The grades are assigned by the tire manufacturers based on their test results or those conducted by an independent testing company they have hired. The NHTSA has the right to inspect the tire manufacturer's data and can fine them if inconsistencies are found.

You would think though, that the manufactures would try and post the highest UTQG rating that they could, as a selling point

Dr.Steve:
I took care of my TireRack order today & they said Dave Kurata should have the tires either Wednesday or Thursday. Now we'll just have to see about spacing for the SSR's. I know you wanna take them off & put the TSW's on, but that's on the back burner for awhile. Besides the Stoptechs match my white/black theme.

I know guys who look for lower numbers on the assumption they're getting a higher performance tire.

Make him an offer he can't refuse. I believe he is keeping the StopTechs because the bling factor is overwhelming. Better ask your FFR first if you can share the bed with another car part.

Lower numbers are just a general rule. With tires there are no guarantees that the size, description, wear factor or performance rating are correct. Marketing is rather dishonest sometimes. That's why having user reviews is so important.

Hey Joe, I ordered 5mm spacers to replace the 15mm spacers you have on your MINI now. The SSRs barely touch the StopTechs.

Fantastic! So do we have credit card-esque clearance now? The bling factor of the Stoptech's is pretty cool, but I'm open to change eventually - it's just not at the top of my priority list now.

We have no clearance now. If I rotate the wheel it will scrape the paint off the caliper.

Right, right, right. I meant after the 5mm spacer is used, we'll have credit card clearance.

We'll have about 5mm, minus the thickness of the paint.

If you could replace it let me know. I'll get that done a little after christmas.

Custom Mini Shop does more repair than online sales. I stock the slave cylinder for both the MC and MCS so let me know when. Thanks.

Dr.Steve:
For some reason TireRack sent 1 of the 4 tires to me & the other 3 to Dave Kurata's. I sent em' an e-mail to see if they could divert shipping. If not, then I'll try to get over y'all's direction. How're the projects coming along? I think I'm gonna eeny-meenie-miney-moe the header choice.

So why no return phone calls? Did my buddy ever call you? BTW, your car is dirty Was checking it out yesterday Also, There is a guy over at M/U trying to get a group buy going for that other rear diffuser, the one that Checkers was looking at. No cutting of the battery box required, and no need for straight thru exhaust. Just a thought

You mean return phone call? As you can imagine with these financial markets, my phone lights up like a Christmas tree as 30-year paper hits 5%. Today's going to be "one of those days" in the office. The JDM rear diffuser isn't for me - I'm completely sold on the M7 one & planning accordingly.

Still measuring and ordering parts. The seatbelt receptacles are going to require some fabrication to bolt to the car.
