This proves that MidCal has some really sick members in need of professional psychiatric help.

Dr. Steve, what do you think about these "new" spark plugs? I know, spark plugs come and go, but the "guru" swears by them Think they might be worth a shot?

Just so his MINI doesn't list to port after the head gets installed.

Speaking of mods, I'm going to mention that y'all should check your insurance policy(s) & talk to your insurance agent in regards to coverage of improvements/additions. My "saga" in that department is not going well at the moment.

On another note, since my exhaust is toast on "Frackmobile part deux" I need to start working on the header-back assembly. Does anyone know of a gen.1 OBX running around? It looks like a blatant copycat of the Supersprint, but for $200 v. $1000 -I'll take the copy.

Had a similar problem with my insurance company when my Xr4ti got totalled. I'd made some rather expensive improvements to the car. They would only pay a few cents on the dollar for all my improvements even with all the receipts. Repeated calls and visits to the office did very little to help. On the plus side for you at least is the great blue-book values for Minis. Insurance companies are like all companies............ PROFIT DRIVEN........... nothing more ... nothing less.

True, true. Given my conversations it was my understanding that parts which were permanently affixed to the vehicle would be included in valuation. I was well aware that I wouldn't get out of it what I put into it, but pretty much $0 for improvements wasn't what I had in mind. The bigger thing which ticks me off is how much they want for the "salvage". They won't give me any credit for the mods, but they'll sure charge for them if I want the hunk of metal back. I'll keep y'all posted.

You da man Dr.Steve! I think you're gonna have to talk to "you know who" to score a flex joint.

I had mine insured for more than blue book. I picked an amount I wanted to cover the car for and the insurance company and they gave me a price. I don't have everything covered, but I could build a new car if this one went away.

You must have have "Stated value" coverage. This is when you appraise your car and say this is what you want to get paid for it if it gets totaled. This kind of insurance obviously costs more. The other kind of coverage is " Market value". This is when an insurance company just gets comparisons on what your car is worth out on the street. My wife quickly explained this to me this morning. I asked her to kind of explain this at the meeting tonight so we can all understand this and get the kind of coverage we think we need BTW, she dosen't sell insurance, she is on the claims - litigation side, so this is not a sales pitch

She is correct it's call Stated value. Yes it cost a little more, but I'm asking for more value than the car books for, that's fair. All I have to do is send in some pictures and a list of mods( BTW no NOS ).

good one. BTW Randy, I checked into the Schroth harnesses. They do make a updated version of the "QuickFit" called the "QuickFitPro". They mount the same way, but use a cam lock. You also have the option of adding 2 more anti-submarine staps making it a 6 point harness. And it also will accept the "Hans device".
