After JCW, use for parts left over?
After JCW, use for parts left over?
Ok, so as I'm doing my 'Infinite loop option selection' exercise... and occasionally punch up the JCW option on my spreadsheet... the thought occured to me, what happens to the parts left over from a JCW install?
If the buyer gets the pile of parts, could some or all of them be useful for upgrading a standard MC, or perhaps as people burn up a head or supercharger on a MCS there would be a market as repair parts.
Anyone with a MCS JCW given thought to the possibilities or actually sold some parts... and you MC owners, have you looked into the technical aspects of supercharger retrofits?
It seems like optioning a MINI often produces 'part residue'. It's almost organic the way spending money on MINI's produces... byproducts.
Thoughts?

Thats a stiff premium price for the JCW kit then... if the dealer can then reuse or recycle the parts. I can't imagine that the dealer would pitch virtually new parts (although there may be some law about it).
Any JCW owners out there ever get to keep their parts... anyone?

JCW owners in the UK are allowed to keep the replaced parts. I suppose US owners could keep the stock supercharger and head if they paid a core charge.
The supercharger and head from an 'S' wouldn't be of much use to a Cooper owner as its engine would have to be highly modified to handle the extra power from these components:

Maybe run 10 psi or so. There are turbo kits for the Cooper (10.6:1 CR) that run more boost. It's just a matter of keeping combustion chamber temps low and supplying enough fuel/spark.
