Hi all. It's been years since I've posted. I don't really know where to find this because I've been out of the game so long. Will 16 inch wheels fit a JCW? I'm not a fan of big wheels. Cheers

 

+1 because I'm wondering the same. I'd like to have a set of light 16's that fit over the big brakes up front. Reduce unsprung weight and add a little more cushion to the ride.

 

Well let me add my $0.02 worth. I have a GP and do a lot of track events. At last count, I instruct with 6 (count em...6) organizations. So over a course of the spring / fall track seasons, that is a lot of events. As we all know, the smaller the tire, the cheaper the tire. So if 16" fits over the JCW brakes...well a lot of dollars can be saved, plus weight and other factors. I am currently shopping wheels so this is a good topic.

 

Some Factory 16" will fit over gen 1 JCW brakes, what wheels are you looking at.

 

I have 16" wheels fitted to my R53 GP 218, which has JCW brakes so that would make a yes!

Reviving an old thread here: I've just picked up a 2006 R53 JCW. The previous owner installed some aftermarket wheels that I don't like. I would like to go back to OEM wheels. Is there a list of which wheels will work with the JCW brakes? Thanks!

 

i know 15” is too small.
16” fits over the JCW brakes, but there may be exceptions.
17” fits for sure!

 

Stock 16” R84 X-Lite will fit over the R53 JCW brakes.
Stock 15s are too small but some aftermarket 15s do fit such as Work equips and 959 racing.

 

Does anybody know if the 16" R90 wheels will fit over the R53 JCW front brakes? I'm sort of hoping they will; I think they fit on the R56S which uses the same calipers.

 

I would love a 16" wheel option for a F56 JCW
