Would you mind snapping some pics of the clearance between both the tire and the strut and also between the wheel spoke and the brake caliper?

ECS: The correct part number for the MINI Cross Spoke 506 that is for the JCW brake kit is #36116855102.

The part number you linked (ending in 705) is for the non-JCW brakes.

Thanks

Weird because those look new on the etk and they were just made available. Updated link. Same size and offset. Maybe the back of the face is contoured or machined back more to fit those 4 pot brembo calipers.

Updated link.

I agree it's weird and confusing. It's the same situation with the "JCW Track spoke" 17" wheels; there's one part number for Cooper and Cooper S's with the JCW exterior kit and then one for any of the MINIs with the JCW brake kit [including the factory JCW]. The spokes are convex to make room for the huge Brembo calipers.

I really wish that Brembo had designed the calipers to not be so thick or MINI had clean-slated the wheels for cars with the Brembo's. Having the same designs but different spoke profiles is totally confusing.

Yes - the brake kit is causing quite a wheel conundrum... I received my JCW brake kit last week but can't install them yet because I don't have a wheel that will clear them. I have been talking to NM Engineering about customizing one of the VW version RSe12 18" wheels and using a CNC machine to correct the center bore. Because the VW version is 8" wide compared to the 7.5" wide MINI version, the idea is that it might just provide enough clearance of the Brembo calipers without rubbing. The only concern I have is that the VW version of the wheel uses seat ball lug bolts instead of the tapered ones that MINI comes with. Not sure if I can find a compatible lug nut to use... I did find this adapter but not sure if it will work:

Amazon.com: Adapter Washer to Convert 60 Degree Taper Lug Nut to Ball Socket - 20 Ball Socket Washers: Automotive Amazon.com: Adapter Washer to Convert 60 Degree Taper Lug Nut to Ball Socket - 20 Ball Socket Washers: Automotive

Thoughts?

I thought NM figured out that the MINI-specific wheels needed a 5mm spacer to clear the JCW brakes....though I'm not sure which of their 3 wheel models that applies to. They all appear to have varying caliper clearance. It's frustrating how behind the curve these vendors are.

As for the cone-to-ball seat washers, seems like they should work fine. The only thing to keep in mind is you'll need longer lugs to account for the added thickness of the washers.

Just heard back from NM Engineering and they said they can reseat the wheels to a 60 degree taper to remove the need for the washer while they are customizing for the center bore . Should hopefully have some info soon!

Oh that's interesting. 18x8 et45 with correct lug seat and hub bore?

Actually, crunching the offset numbers, you'd need a 41mm offset to have the wheel at the exact same inboard location relative to the strut. I know for sure on my JCW Pro coilovers there isn't 4mm of clearance to give up between the tire and strut. So don't be surprised if you need a 5mm spacer to clear the struts.

Well the caveat would be I would not be able to run coilovers. I would have to keep my DDC which has the indentation that should provide the clearance you are referring to. At the moment I plan on keeping my DDC so that hopefully is not an issue. They are supposed to be doing some test fitments for me this week and letting me know to make sure there isn't a clearance issue.

18x8 45et 215/40/18 are fine with the jcw pro coilovers without spacers. Bbs sro16 18x8 45et clear the jcw brakes without spacers.

^^^that must be super tight clearance to the strut, but thanks for the info. At that point it would come down to the exact tire you choose; some of them with big wheel-protector-beads would undoubtedly rub the strut.

Yea in his project thread here, but he said the dealership also test-fitted those wheels on a factory JCW with the Brembo's and they fit.

Really really happy to hear Jerry & NM are stepping up and installing the JCW BBK to verify wheel fitment!
