Stock exhaust vs. JCW Exhaust on R53?

I picked up a nice R53 mini with a bunch of JCW stuff on it.....including the exhaust as far as I can tell. I'm starting to wonder if it's a real JCW exhaust, or just the stock exhaust with JCW tips on it. Is there any way to tell by looking at the exhaust (besides the JCW tips)? It sure is super quiet...I can barely even hear it running.

Thanks!

The JCW tips wont fit the stand "S" exhaust so I would say its the JCW. And they are quiet unless you remove the resonator.

JCW exhaust is a twin can exhaust with a symmetric split Y, the twin cans hang low underneath the bumper, you can easily see them from behind. The stock exhaust is split differently (check out real OEM for what a stock S exhaust looks like), and the cans are pretty much flush underneath, and you can't really see them from behind. You can tell just by looking from behind the car which exhaust it's carrying regardless of the tips.

The JCW exhaust is the quietest of the performance exhausts...

Thanks for the info guys. I got up under the car to take a look...and yep, it's a JCW exhaust. For being a "performance" exhaust...it sure is quiet! I don't think it's any louder than a stock Honda Accord or any other family car out there. Why did they make them so quiet?

As far as taking the resonator off....does it make it sound better, or just make it sound like some raspy rice-burner? Does it add any real HP...or just noise?

Thanks again for the info!

Put a good header on it and it will not be quiet anymore.

I did the resonator delete on my JCW and love it!! It's been a year now since it was done. I will also be installing a header on Friday! ...That is if my shipment is on time...

You may want to put the resonator back on after the header....

I agree the JCW exhaust is too quiet. I did the resonator delete on my JCW exhaust and did not like the sound. I sold the JCW exhaust and added a Milltek exhaust.

Had the header installed this past Friday. Very pleased. The weekend was worth ever $4.00 gallon of gas I bought. I think the JCW should have sounded like this from the factory. More torque also.

My phone is not the greatest, but I will give it a shot tomorrow!
I also posted some pics on two other threads. Is there a way to show them here or do I have to upload them again?

Thanks for the vid. A fellow NC-er!

As for the clip...not to my liking. Maybe time for a header.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say, "04 JCW with OBX Header Magnaflow cat through JCW exhaust..."

That is correct. OBX Header, Magnaflow cat, and JCW exhaust.
