I thought perhaps there was an easier way. Do you have the sepcs on the T-fitting? Where did you get it? And how much if you don't mind sharing?
You can probably buy these pcs at any Home Depot or hardware place. There is the main pc that threads where the oil pressure sending unit goes. It has 2 "ports". One accepts the stock oil pressure sender and the other has an adapter that accepts the oil temp sender. I paid $8 for all the pcs. Don't forget to use anti seize and teflon tape when putting the pcs together. I'll post a pic in a bit.

Mine are installed and working

For the oil temp, I just used a M14x1.5 plug with the sensor already on it. I got it from ebay for like $12

This is actually the one I used.. VDO part # 323 055D

Are you sure the sensor is the same rating. Others have used the MINI sensor and their gauges read the temp wrong. Nice looking setup.

Same thing I was wondering. Tell us if you get correct readings

Hey Hosmer, can you tell me where to hook up the T for the boost gauge? Where it has been installed now, the reading on the boost gauge needle only goes up to the 10 below the 0 reading. Can you explain which is the correct hose to splice it in to? thanks

I can help you with this. Under your intercooler (easy to remove) is the fuel pressure regulator (located about center of the block under the fuel rail). Pull off the line connected to the bottom of the regulator and tee into that. Make sure the connection to the regulator is tight or you will get low/false readings on the gauge. Run the other end to your gauge/sending unit. It's really easy to do.

yeah, thats where I have mine

One end of my tee was sealed/blocked...check yours out before you install it

Also, your gauge will read vacuum alot of the time...you really have to get on the gas up to/over 5k rpms to get up to 10psi

Since I'm new to minis and not particularly mechanically inclined as well I have a few questions. What should the boost gauge be reading at idle; at full acceleration? I see that the gauge reads from 0 to + 30 and down to -30. What about the water temp? Mine reads when warm about 190. this would help me know if they are installed correctly.

you can see in the pic that at cold idle my car is reading 12psi on the vacuum side

full acceleration - it'll usually jump to +5psi then climb up to between 8 and 10psi when you get over 6k rpms.

180-190 is normal water temp, you can get a low temp (160) thermostat also

Just for a comparison, the built-in water temp sensor (accessible through the trip computer hidden functions) shows between 87 and 93 C (188 - 200 F).

Where are you guys finding the easiest place to tap the power and illumination? I've followed DarkMiniCooperS's post but it's a pain in the @ss to get to the wires by the fuse panel.

thanks for any help.

Oh, Yeah does the dimmer work with where you hooked the wires up?

I used 2 "add a fuse" at the fusebox for 12v constant and 12v switched (very easy to do). For illumination, I tapped the gray/red wire from the harness connected to the tach. Again, very easy to do and the dimmer works for the gauges as well.

No problem . Sharing my experiences is the least I can do to give back to the NAM community for all the valueable (mostly) info I have received.

Shooler--

Thanks for all your help on this. I plan on doing the Add-A-Fuse this weekend. are you using a 5 or 10a fuse on the I counldn't find the amperage draw on the gauges or I just missed it.

I'd like to use the smallest fuse possible so I won't blow out the gauges.

Happy to help! I am using a 10 amp fuse in both constant and switched.
