To be honest, I do like the defi's more, mostly for the peak and hold for boost and oil pressure. Sorry to be a bother, but can you get at any of their other line that has peak/hold? Along with the peak and hold on the Defi comes the pain in the butt of installing all the extra electronics (controller/etc.)

prosportgauges.com have a new line that have peak memory and are also very similar to the defi style.

They are much cheaper and require no controller.

Dav-I too am a Defi fan but yes they are pricey. Are you asking if I can get the STRI line that has that function? If so, as of right now no I can not. The diferent lines they will be manufacturering will be coming in little by little this year, I'm not sure the planned release dates. You may want to check the site RH posted. I don't know much about their gauges though but if you can't wait you can't wait .

On the other hand I can get pretty much any Defi line you want (unless it's only offered in Japan...then you have to buy me a plane ticket hahahaha)

These look fantastic - all the looks of the Defi without the pricing of them! Sent you an email about them, hoping to get a set for mine .

yay It's really making me happy to know I can offer something that's been needed for a while. I know getting gauges that truly look good in a MINI have been hard to come buy (wel...fairly inexpensively)

Thanks everyone! I'm quite overwhelmed by the responses through emails & PM's so I"m trying my best not to forget to find out requested info. If anyone doesn't hear back from me in a few days just send me another email

gauges

If I order the set can I get water temp and oil pressure gauge or oil temp? If so put me down for a set. See you in Vegas again this year?

Earl

p.s. I would like oil temp and water temp and I'm sure the MC owners would not want the boost gauge so if you can get this as a package I'll take one and if you are in Vegas again this year you could bring them and I could get them installed there.

Yeah, I looked at them, and I also found some less than favorable reviews on a EVO forum about them. While they look like defi, who is to say they are accurate like Defi? The reason for my interest in accuracy is that I may go with the fireballed turbo system where boost is a variable, and is not tied to a crank pulley. If it looks like hey, we're only running 12psi boost, lets shim the WG springs to get 18, and the gauge is reading 5psi low, well, that's a big problem. With the SC, the boost is what it is, other than spinning the SC faster you'll not be tuning it.

In the end, the ProSport setup runs about $320 with the e-pod, and the defi, $650 with pod. It may be worth it to do it once and right versus trying prosport and not turning my engine into scrap!

I think the illumination on the PS looks a little spotty compared to the STRI and defi IMO. What do you think?

This is sort of what I mean about illumination:

I'm currently running a boost gauge by them and it has been dead on 10 PSI for me. I know a few people locally too that run these gauges and only 1 person had a problem with an EGT one, though I think it had to do with the probe, not the gauge.

They have a great glow and I love the blue.

Here is a shot of mine. Also remember this is a camera phone, so some quality is lost.

I love the look of the gauges. I was told by the performance shop that whatever gauges I purchase should both be electrical. Is that true for the BOOST gauge.

For a boost gauge, you don't have to worry to much about whether it's mech. or electric. Your mechanics was more refering to oil pressure gauges or water temp gauges. Cause you don't want metal lines filled with pressurized oil running inside your car. With a boost gauge it's just a plastic tube and there is nothing to worry about.

Exactly. A little extra air flowing on you is a lot better than 250 degree oil . Anything that involves hot fluid should be electric.

I like people who do their research Defi is by far my favorite gauge line and truth be known I hung out with the higher-ups of the company while at SEMA (very nice guys, they like my MINI too LOL), they are VERY proud of their products and quality. They are the only gauge line I have heard non-stop positive remarks about (aside from the price). STRI are also people whom I know and trust their products therefore I offer them. They have assured me they are good quality. I am still learning a lot of technical info on gauges all together. If you want to go Defi let me know via PM and I'll work up a package deal

Guages are really a reference point... there is a little thing in the industry known as 323... it stands for 3% 2% 3%... as in... most gauges are acurate to 3% on the bottom.... variing to 2% in the middle... and back to 3% on the big end... obviously if you buy crap you might get a 30 20 30 LOL but I doubt it...

the STRI are amazing quality for the money.. when you consider the gauges that are in thier price range I honestly told those guys they are nuts.... but they are tired of seeing people buy crap for less money... so they offered this cheaper line... I think it's great...

I do have the DEFI... but not everyone wants/needs those features.... I have spent alot of time and $ on my car... so for me... the guages are worth it.. especially with the recording perameter... makes checking things out easy... etc...

just my .02 aboot gauges....

I agree with Tüls...

I had a tell-tale on a 911 turbo boost gauge on my last car and the tell-tale is very important. Peak boost is what you're looking for, not nominal when checking safey. If I could get the STRI with their higher end boost gauge with the peak playback, this would be perfect!

Dav-I couldn't say for sure but I want to say yes. I know they have control units and the high-end line coming out but I have no release date info as of yet.
here's their site (if you haven't looked already) http://www.striracing.com
and their email if you would like to ask StriRacing@yitron.com.tw

I love these gauges. Here is why these gauges were exactly what I was looking for. Here are some new pics for your gallery Stoo:

From what I've been told, its not possible to substitute the gauges as its a very special package deal. Sure if you bought the pack + an oil pressure gauge that you'd be able to shift the oil temp one pretty easily though.

Edit: Should really not load a page and then reply hours later without refreshing; Em's PM'd ya
