Interior/Exterior New STRI gauges
well, I'm really not a complainer so when I say that the reading of these gauges is hard in bright light as well as semi cloudy days, it truly is hard for me. I still believe the simple way to go is to just make the lens clear and have the background white like the OEM; what could be easier than that?
Actually they do come like that:
Clear Lens an Amber backlight. If you want then to look OEM, there are lot's of other companies that already offer guage packages. These were offered as an alternative to the OEM look.

Ok, so I got Gauges I while back everything works good except they dim in reverse of my Tach and Speedo. I disconnected them from the red/grey runner wire by the fuses, tested them individually back on the grey/red wire and they still dimmed backwards.
Any Idea on what I may have done wrong?
I couldn't have done that much wrong. Everything is working.
---------
All the wires for the 2 gauges are tied together (ground and ground, Ignition and Ignition, Dimmer and Dimmer)
Ignition wire is connected to fuse 32 (cig lighter) by an add a fuse.
Ground is connected to a bolt on the fire wall left of the clutch pedal.
Dimmer is connected to the Grey/red runner in the wire bundle next to the fuse box.

can somebody tell me how/where they have their Ignition (+12v), ground and dimmer hooked up?
I'm trying to trouble shoot my dimming backward issue. I can't seem to figure it out. I thought if I ask people with STRI guages it'll be easier to figure out.
TIA

I'm taking mine to WS Motorcars in Annapolis and going to have them do it.
I took it there yesterday and got a quote, and Samson pointed out the best place may be the cig lighter. I said WTF, the cig lighter? And he said yeah, it's got a light ring that dims with the rest of the dash! Power, illumination, and ground can all be tapped at that point. OMG SMRT!
So yeah, they're going to install my new megan springs, bumpstops, JCW steering wheel, and complete the eletrical wiring for my STRI Boost Gauge.

The Batmini is at WS Motorcars in Annapolis getting the gauges installed right now. Yaaaaayyyy!
oooh good idea. I'm checking which gauges are available now, I think they all should be so maybe I can put together a GP friendly package
The smoked ones would go nicely but I'll look

Any water/coolant temp gauge would work. You would just have to find a spot to tap for the temps. As far as specific for R56, I don't know. But almost any should work.
I guess I should have worded that more specifically. I meant one that has a pod that will hold it logically in the R56.

Yesterday as I was turning the car on and letting the gauge do it’s start-up sweep it do what it normally does. The light came on, started to sweep then it stopped it’s sweep a tick under 180 then went back down to 0 instead of going all the way to 300, blinking then back to 0.
Then as oil temp rises it gets stuck at a tick under 180 for a while before it’ll go over it. I can actually see the needle trying to get over that temp. The needle bounces up and down just slightly like it’s pushing but can’t get over it then it finally breaks free and gives me a reading over 180.
Is there warranty for this? I feel like I can’t trust the gauge reading.
Has this happened to anybody? I emailed STRI also.

I haven't heard from them either.
I just resent them my emails. I'm just waiting to hear from them. I should fall within warranty...I think.
