Paint under the bonnet stripes after a few years?

Has anybody removed their bonnet stripes after a couple years and had color/ shade difference under the stripes?

Thanks!

No.

But my bet is that if you remove them, you will be obliged to replace them (probably with slightly wider stripes...) because there will be some differential fading after a year or two.

If you're lucky, maybe the phantom stripes will actually look cool and you'll start a new fad!

btw, I think the same thing will happen to all the Saran-wrapped cars...

I removed mine. No problems. I have a 2003 black MCS that spent the first several years of its life in sunny Florida. I pulled the bonnet stripes off last month, cleaned off the excess adhesive, and now you can't tell they were ever there

That's very interesting. Especially with a black car where I would think it would show up the worst.

Pir8 97..... how have you cared for the paint on your bonnet? I've been wondering about this myself, and was hoping that the 4 coats of Zaino would help minimize the problem in the future should it become an issue.

I just put a good coat of Meguiars wax on it after removing them. I have a Zaino kit, so I'm planning to strip the old wax and give her a good show polish in the near future.

Yeah, I would think you would be fine since you have an 05.
