Posted these on the thread about disassembling the armrest, but thought it bears posting elsewhere for those of you tuscan beige owner who are stuck with a black armrest. I spent about an hour at my local fabric store recently and came out with this fantastic plaid fabric that matches the tan in the Tuscan Beige interior. Looks so much better than the plain black on the armrest did! I have already gotten many compliments on it!
I use the armrest mostly for storage and not for actually resting my arm, so 'feel' really isn't a factor for me. That being said, the feel is actually a little nicer and softer than the rubbery plastic surface that is the factory alternative. Overall I'm very happy with it.
don't forget to scotch guard it.
that light color won't hold up long with elbows and arms touching it day in day out.
unless you always wear long sleeves...

I just cut my fabric to fit over the existing top half of the armrest assembly and then glued it down to hold it in place while I re-assembled it. I think the whole process took me about an hour.
2) The fabric installation does not affect the sliding at all because it's just covering the upper part of the armrest, not the moving parts.
