Can i play my iPhone songs through my radio

I connected my iPhone 5 to the USB port and selected AUX on the radio but it says my cable is not supported. It is the normal cable i use for charging my iPhone.

Perhaps i am missing an option in the GP or more likely i don't know what the heck i am doing.

Thanks,
Steve

if you don't have mini connect then you need to connect your phone to the aux port (not usb) and then you can stream. if you do have mini connect you can stream over bluetooth.

Actually, the best way of doing it is by using the BMW mini specific cable which connects to both the USB and the audio cable. That way you get song information, playlists etc. Also you can play pandora radio with supported song id's etc etc

Only problem is the cable comes in the old i-phone 3-4 type connector, not the smaller i-phone 5 type. Not sure if they have released one for the 5 yet?

Thank you robbo mcs.

I talked to my local MINI dealer and they told me they have a cord that works with the F56 but not the R56. An R56 version is forthcoming.

Gotta use the BMW/Mini cable... And the factory Apple 30 pin to lightning (5) cable to make it work.

I use.... BMW/Mini Connector -> 6' Cable Jive extension -> Apple 30 pin adapter.

I can get all phone audio and track data through the factory base Radio. Works flawlessly. Pandora/iTunes radio/iPod/amazon cloud player etc..

Don't bother waiting for the vaporware iPhone 5 cable that's been talked about for two years.

Doubtful. This has been BS'd about for two years now. The R56 engineering cycle is dead.

It is for real, there is an IPhone 5 lightning Y cable coming for the 2nd gen cars. It will be in US inventory in a few weeks. Part # is 61122287642. Retail price is $96.

Steve - you can use the cable that came with your GP2 and add an Apple lightning adapter for your iPhone 5. This is what I do currently and it works fine. I have an extra one of you want it, brand new in box from Apple. I may be in your area tomorrow picking up a part for my R53, so just let me know.

Hey John, I don't remember getting a cable with my GP 2. I do have the apple cable that goes from the lightning Jack to a USB port. So I think I need the other table with the male to male pin plug adapter right?
