I saw one in person in Tom Bush MINI in Jacksonville Florida today. It belongs to the MINI cooper rep. They said they have a couple coming in that are not spoken for. ?????

Doesn't look to be any correlation to the VIN#, just a random number.

Numbers on the FL GP?

Braminator, Thanks for posting the FL Mini dealership GP sighting. Interesting that the car does not appear to have numbers on the roof. I'm fine with or without, but a little frustrated that our car has supposedly been sitting in NJ since Feb.8, because of delays in getting the number decals.

Did you happen to notice where, if at all, the GP you saw had numbered decals applied?

Thanks

There were none from what I remember. This GP belongs to the Rep from MINI. I don't know if that would make a difference though.

Red face --

Thanks Braminator, I don't think it makes a difference who's buying the car whether or not it has numbers - but who knows? We're all pretty much guessing at this point.

I spoke to a Motoring Advisor at Tom Bush Mini in Jacksonville and he said that the car they had on display on the 23rd was indeed a reps car and that it will eventually get its number. It is still unknown exactly where they will be applied but safe to guess that they will be in the same roof line location as the GP1. Also heard that the engraved key fobs were going to existing GP1 owners and very early GP2 orderers...so I dont know if I will get one... Also was told that the existing GP1 owners could choose their number as long as it was 001-500. This is still hearsay but the most information I've heard so far...

Does anyone know where the final assembly of the GP was done. Is it like the 2006 GP having the final assembly done in the Bertone Italy BMW motorcycle plant?

Just curious to how many people paid a premium to have one.

All of the assembly was done at the MINI plant in Oxford, England.

Absolutely absurd. 5K for the privilege to wait for months for the car while its at the port. I'm sure it's going to be a great vehicle but at 47K there are a lot of options out there for the track junkies.

Nuts....I think the only thing that'd entice me in the GP2 is the sport button they modified specific for the GP2. They should have at least put their mechanical diff in it too.

As far as I am concerned it could have been built in the Planet Uranus for as long as it is taking for them to get them here!!

Destination was supposed to be included in the 39950 price. And paid? You took delivery already? So they broke the rule that they couldn't be sold till the 5th of April? How did it handle on the way home? They called and told me that they were selling every gp they got with a 5k markup on it and were shocked that i found a dealer that wasn't doing the same when i took my deposit back from them and ordered from the hotline(the day they opened the line and Seattle didn't even know it was on line yet) through another dealer. I hope they didn't swindle you for more than the 700 dollar destination that was supposed to be included.

no, no, no... being too literal here... I stated "paid" as in gave deposit for a locked-in price... I will not be getting it until April 5th (there-abouts).
I wouldn't consider it "swindled" if I agreed to it...

Coool! How many of the 2006 GP owners received a plaque today with the new style number but with your 2006 GP number. I received one today, maybe I'll receive thwe other tomorrow (GP 0282 and GP 0828) I know I'm just being greedy.
