Well, having to wait until March is one of a few reasons that made me pull my GP order and order a JCW Coupe instead. I'd be angry too if I waited it out from October to now and it was delayed even further. I wouldn't say it's no longer exciting though. That car will be hugely fun to drive. I did hear from my dealer that there were surpluses of them though. I'd be curious to see a poll of people who gave up their GP order for something else and find out what the top reasons they changed were. that could be useful for MINI to know as well.

I placed my order in July, was told delivery sometime November- then March now April. MINI must be aware of the customers frustrations but when you contact them they just brush you off. This will be my 6th Mini - if it ever arrives - I am so close to walking away from MINI. The 2014 VW Golf R is looking good !!

I test drove the Ford Focus ST and it's nowhere near the fit and finish quality. The whole dash moved when I gently lifted the gauges on the dash, there was a huge gap between the headliner the the roof right where it meets the sunroof and there's a big black piece of unsightly styrofoam visible when you fold the back seats down. It also gets 10mpg less than the JCW. Given that my 80-year old stepmother just bought a new Ford Focus today, I'm really glad I didn't get one.
As for the Golf, the more I looked at it the less I liked the look of it. It reminded me too much of my sister's 1970's-era Rabbit. Kind of utilitarian, boxy and not unique enough in appearance for me and a goofy name to boot.
I'm not a fan of the WRX appearance either so I scratched that one off.
My list got pretty small and given the amount of fun my '04 MCS provided up to 165k miles, I had to come back to another MINI.

That is priceless! It's so funny because on paper the ST has the same specs as the JCW for 0-60 and top speed, but when I drove it it didn't feel nearly as fast. I think it's because everything between 60 and 150 MPH is quicker on the JCW thanks to gearing but I'm not sure.

Having had the chance to drive one, I will say it is definitely worth the wait.

I totally agree. With the way the weather has been in the northern half of the country most of us would not be driving the car anyway. Reread the article and watch the video from EVO Magazine... the car is worth waiting for!
