Gp

Picked 0256 up yesterday from the dealership. I had a wee bit of a problem with the leather IP(topper) there was a crease on it I told them about it and looks like they will order me a new one. Also one of the stripes on the roof was scratched up other than that I ma happy and the car is a blast to drive.

Coopking, my friend. Were you able to take possession of your GP - now that all the snow is melting...again?

Did everyone get their GP?! I have not seen any chat in weeks.

Delivery Day 3.29.2013

Here are a couple pics on delivery day. The car is awesome. Put over 400 break-in miles on it and I am impressed with every aspect of the car. It really lives up to the hype by those who got to drive the car in Spain and Puerto Rico.

The handling is truly spectacular, sure footed, great road feel. IMO, the ride is actually more compliant over rough roads than my '09 JCW was. Haven't unleashed to car's potential yet, but the brakes and Kumho's (thank you warmer weather!), exceed my expectations by a wide margin. It was worth the wait.

I am excited to say that I took delivery of my 5th MINI in 11 years this past Tuesday . GP #0051 is presently sitting in my garage with the red alarm light blinking . I had the opportunity to buy a GP1 in 2006, but really couldn't due to starting a family. Deposit placed for GP2 last year shortly after car debuted at MINI United.

You definitely FEEL wayyyy more road with this car compared with other MINIs, that is for sure. The coilovers, tires (I decided to keep the V700s for now), brakes, and Recaros all make you think you're driving a Porsche or similar ride or.....a VERY cool MINI . I traded my JCW Clubman which was a great car in its own right . I will miss it, but very happy to be a GP owner. The car feels serious and like it really means business. Love the Recaros .

I am going to keep the car stock. Getting full clear bra installed next week .

Here are a few pics from delivery:

Congrats minicoopermike!! That is awesome to hear another GP2 went to a deserving home. If you get a chance let me know how the HK sound system sounds w/o the rear two speakers.

A few very early comments on 0014...

- The ride quality is downright comfy... MUCH softer than my 09 JCW...
- The sounds is AWESOME... don't know why, but it's much better than the snap, crackly, pop of JCW... it's pretty quiet, but has a real cool throaty rumble between each shift
- Transmission shift throws are pretty tight, noticeable difference
- my kid realized there is no back seat (looking in to putting one in)
- it hurts a bit not having sunroof and back speakers...
- dealer tried putting on one of my JCW snow wheels... not even close... this is a problem that I'm not sure how to resolve... calipers are MASSIVE!

So far, I will say... THIS CAR IS AWESOME!!!

Thank you for the write up.

As a person whom enjoys music emensly, living w/o the rear speakers would be a problem for me too. I could certainly live w/o the sunroof too.

kk moto, it looks like you got the Mini North Scottsdale package with the shorty antenna, tint, etc.. Did you at least enjoy some ribs out at the stadium? Big Red Rib 'n Music Fest last weekend!

Nah, use the stadium for a backdrop for mine and other cars I shoot.

As an owner of a MCS and a worshiper of the GP2 I decided to take a 35 min stroll down to my local MINI dealer (Ralph Schomp MINI, Devner CO) and see this thing first hand. As I got closer to the dealer that feeling of Christmas came over me like a kid. But I wasn't purchasing it, I was just looking.

Once I arrived I said my hello's to the service team and my friends in the parts department. GP #0086 was sitting right smack dab in the middle of the showroom. What a car! 10 times better in person than any picture. Even though kk moto's pics were saturated with amazing colour and depth. I couldn't wait to sit in it and row the gearbox, take in the Recaro seats, the new car smell and of course pop the bonnet. This car is every bit what I thought it would be. If I had $40k, it could EASILY be parted with.

Although I did not drive it I could see what all the talk was about. I could have starred into the Thundercloud Grey paint for days. The red accents. The Khumo tyres with a wear rating of 50(!). I did not want to leave.

MINI of Pittsburgh still had 3 in stock last week. Give Audrey a call, great Motoring Advisor and very nice dealership if anyone is looking for a GP and cannot find one.

Mini North Scottsdale has had one returned!!!

The original one I looked at and test drove was sold while I was thinking. They got another which I bought. Drove by and saw it on the used lot. 300 miles, asking over MSRP (weird since I easily negotiated under for mine).

How does one not know what they're getting in to and sell it back in ~250- miles?????

"....Oh look honey at the cute wing, lets buy it!....... Jesus f****g Ch***t this thing has no back seat, and is loud, and is stiff........"

Maybe they didn't get a test drive?

LOL! That was awesome. And I agree. The Mini is already a niche car to begin with. The GP just solidifies that. Who considers one without knowing what you are getting into? Unless financing fell through, sadly it happens. Which is a bummer
