I wholeheartedly agree! If I had the scratch to order one of these rare animals the wait would be worth it.
I once waited 3 additional months(!) for a car (non Mini) I ordered, after driving it the wait was worth it.
Practice patience future GP owners! Your car will reward you.

The GP's are and will always be desireable and Mini knows that. they arent offering any incentives on them at the moment... it might change but highly improbable. I do not foresee them sitting in dealerships past June.. I am confident that they will get scooped up at MSRP.
The dealership that you are mentioning, they must be a high volume dealership with a higher allotment than most... not extra 7, but more than most dealerships...
Getting the car first will always cost more...no different than seeing the blockbuster movie on opening night rather than 4 months later at a 1pm matinee- same movie but less demand= less out of pocket.
I know the car will be worth the wait which is why I am sticking it out... just frustrating when the dates keep getting pushed out...

Eagerly and patiently awaiting the GP(2) . This will be my 5th MINI since April 2002. Put my deposit down in April or May...don't remember it has been so long .
Also considering Golf R, JCW Roadster, used MB SLK55 AMG, JCW Countryman/Paceman, or ??? should I decide not to get the GP. One idea is to keep my JCW Clubman and get a BMW C600 Sport mega scooter.
Another dealer I spoke with about the GP was going to put some kind of extra protection stuff on it (BS crap to me) as they do with their other new cars.....make sure the dealer doesn't stiff you with unnecessary extras!

The only "extra protection stuff" that I dont mind paying for is the clear paint protection. keeps the front looking new but yeah, they always try to get you with Eco-Guard or Enviro-guard or other BS stuff...

Appreciate the feedback on your experience and really looking forward the first drive!

I am sure most,if not all, of us prepurchasers will be paying full price- I dont think Mini will be discounting them for quite some time if at all... They are limited edition and sort after. Take the Goodwood model for example (not a great example because they are not nearly as marketable as the GP)-but still... after being on the market for a full year now, of the 5 on autotrader, 2 are still at full price of $52k, 2 are offering a discount of 9k and 10k respectfully and the 5th is a used one at $42k.

I agree the car will be worth it and if it sells for less later and suffers huge depreciation, so be it. Life's short and I would've missed out on a whole lot of fun waiting.

I read somewhere that the numbers relate to the production order of the US bound cars. Don't think they match the VIN.
